Talk: Manoof

Before you ask, I'm no Admin. I'm just giving advice. First, you'll have ACTUAL Admins breathing down your neck if you don't sign your comments. You don't have to do it EVERY time (at least I don't every time.) but do it most times. And for actual edits, hit the random link and see if you can find something you know about. This kind of thing might also give you ideas about OTHER things you can edit. It'll help a lot. Another thing: Fix grammar and spelling errors. You wouldn't believe how much it helps. Also, edit one section at a time. It helps you get more edits and it also can help you spot more errors to fix, helping make wookieepedia more accurate which is all our secondary goal, right. Lastly, some large articles are laden with info gaps and grammatical errors. I know I got a lot of edits out of the ROTS game article. Thanks for reading. Roger Roger 01:46, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

There's a requisite of 50 article edits to vote on things like QOTD or Featured Articles. Looks like you're currently at 41, so for now your votes will have to be crossed. They'll be un-crossed as soon as you hit 50. Sorry for the inconvenience. Enochf 17:37, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey Manoof, thanks for answering my question!! Could you point me in the right direction for maps that possibly navigate from satellites, and the micro-power cell of droidekas. As for uplifted animals, I mean animals whos intelligence was increased from null to high. Also would the Verpine shatter gun be an example of a coilgun? Thanks for your time!!Darth Pickle 2 (talk) 00:35, November 24, 2013 (UTC).

Thank YOU for the kind words! Yeah, as far as I know, that template should only be put up if an article on a living person is written in some bizarre way --- eg, treating them as if they're already dead, treating them like an in-universe Star Wars character, etc. Explaining why you revert someone's edits is always a good practice, and I'm glad you appreciate it. ^^ Menkooroo (talk) 13:03, November 25, 2013 (UTC)

So I'm the team lead of Project Video Games, and I wanted to stop by and see if you were interested in contributing, since I saw you had the gamer userbox. Corellian Premier 02:34, January 12, 2014 (UTC)

Per comments from Grunny, this proposal has been modified to remove references to the two-week warning. A diff of the changes is here. 21:58, February 21, 2014 (UTC)

Hey Manoof, you have been named Wookieepedian of the Month for March. Congratulations. I was wondering, would you be interested in doing a WOTM interview? Thanks, Supreme Emperor (talk) 01:41, March 7, 2014 (UTC)

I have been continuing to notice this form of laziness for quite some time now. I am disappointed that you, Ayrehead, Corellian Premier, and dogma failed to catch the most blatant mistakes in Lee's Roan Shryne CAN. As reviewers, it is your responsibility to thoroughly check each and every part of a CAN. Let us look at some mistakes that no one caught while giving the article a copy-edit: I am assuming that you guys are aware of the February 2012 Mofference in which we changed the infobox name procedure. All non-disambig conjectural titled articles must always have the entire title in the name parameter. So at the moment, the name parameter is completely incorrect. Next, the double brackets of the infobox box needs its space removed. It should look like . After that, "The Padawan and its master." Do you see anything wrong here? Yes, we do not know if the person is a male or female, but we also do not know if the person is asexual, as the "its" is implying here. I told Lee about this a few days ago so I am upset that he did not catch this instance here. Lastly, I would give the entire article another copy-edit, just to clear up any grammatical mistakes.

I hope you guys take what I said into consideration because, as Educorps members, you need to show a good example for newer writers and editors. If you make these little mistakes consistently, I can assure you that they will most likely pick up those bad habits. Not only that, they might appear in your writing as well. Take your time while reviewing articles, even if they are small and less than 250 words. JangFett 14:25, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, Manoof, good job on these RC clones. Two of them are over 250 words now, so I archive them later (its 3 am at my location), so that you can take them to GAN. Clone Commander Lee 00:56, April 6, 2014 (UTC)

Hi! Indeed, the image doesn't come from the game itself, and to my knowledge it either doesn't come from the game guide. I had found it on a forum, someone has certainly realised the screen capture by using a mod that allows you to move the camera freely. So in fact, yes, the screen comes from the game, but not in its original condition, because the author of the screen used a mod. Hoping that my indications help you ;) Maguinic (talk) 11:30, April 12, 2014 (UTC)

Hmmm, my thoughts have always been that Human should be included in Clone trooper articles, and I've also thought that the idea was that our articles are to be written as though they are being read by people that know nothing about Star Wars so that every bit of information is included. I'll see what the others think, but this may have to go to a larger discussion. Commander Code-8 09:09, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

Hey Manoof. Since I saw that you collected/played with Star Wars Miniatures, I was wondering if you had access to Star Wars Miniatures: Universe. If so, would you mind checking for info regarding Nom Anor if there's not too much? Thanks, 501st 18:24, December 16, 2014 (UTC)

Just to let you know, I fixed the infobox error in Into the Great Unknown.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 15:36, January 3, 2015 (UTC)

Hello, in your recent edits, you have been changing infoboxes from "Character" to "Character infobox" which is a redirect. As "Character" is the correct, non-redirect form, please change all of the infoboxes back to saying "Character" without infobox. Thank you.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 06:15, January 11, 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Manoof. I've got both the Prima Guide and Nintendo Guide for that game, but thanks for the heads up! Yah, I do a bit of Podracing work for whatever reason. It's a cool subject, and it was a great game. If you have the guide, I'd recommend playing the game if you haven't before. It's fun. --Clonehunter 05:05, January 12, 2015 (UTC)

Hey. I see you moved a couple of turrets from Republic Commando to names from the Prima guide and removed the LucasArts web link from sources. The names the pages were originally at appear to be taken from the LucasArts website so are correct too. You can find an archived copy of the page here. Look under navigate > gameplay > turrets. The specifications don't seem to have survived archiving but the names are still there. Green Tentacle 11:34, January 12, 2015 (UTC)

Hello, could you check the Star Wars: Republic Commando: Prima Official Game Guide for information on the EC detonator? If there is an entry for the grenade, could you give me the information on my talk page? Thank you for your time.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 01:46, February 8, 2015 (UTC)

Hey, dude. Just got your message. I gave the issue a quick once over, and there isn't any direct reference to the fact that it takes place in 3 ABY. Obviously, it was published after the Empire adaptation, though what that really says about (non) canonical placement is really up in the air. Hope that helps. TIEPilot051999 (talk) 18:03, February 24, 2015 (UTC)

I don't see anything relating to the events on Aargau, but I do see that it places the events of Star Wars 52 between 3 ABY and 3.5 ABY. I don't know too much about the old Marvel comics, but if the stories are chronological, you should be able to place Star Wars 48 in 3 ABY.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 02:48, February 26, 2015 (UTC)

What are you doing with changing the legends and Canon articles

Please note that any subject that only exists in canon sources prior to the Canon announcement should still have a Legends article. While I am unsure if those articles you changed are particularly worthy of having any pages, please do not simply change Legends pages into Canon articles. Thank you.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 12:42, February 27, 2015 (UTC)

Hi Manoof! The audio files are easily accessible, both for JKII and JKJA. You need to open the game files with Winzip or Winrar and find the sounds folder. Cheers. Stake black 10:38, March 3, 2015 (UTC)

Of course, I am happy to help! In terms of the crew of the walker, this is the entirety of what the guide has to say: "Due to its size and complexity, the AT-TE requires a large crew consisting of a pilot, a spotter, and four support members to operate the laser cannons and serve as technicians. A seventh crew member controls the projectile cannon from an external firing chair. Most AT-TEs also keep an IM-6 medical droid on board." It additionally makes note of the walker's ability to carry ten clone troopers. Hope this helps! JethLordMaster 01:58, March 4, 2015 (UTC)

Regarding, Omnibus A Long Time Ago Volume 2, I haven't been on in a while so just got your message. I'll try to look it up soon and let you know.--Hobbie (talk) 06:46, March 4, 2015 (UTC)

Sorry about that! I had just copied the infobox from Miraj Scintel's Legends page. I have updated both her canon and Legends infoboxes now, though. I'll be sure to keep this in mind for future pages; thanks for telling me! Cevan (talk) 18:35, March 6, 2015 (UTC)

Hello! During the review process of the Sith Chalice article, I discovered an additional source that set up a new deal. As a consequence, the article has been significantly altered since you voted for it. If you could have a look at the new version and see if you've got any objections, that'd be most welcome. Thanks. :-) --LelalMekha (talk) 17:10, March 12, 2015 (UTC)

Well, a section labeled 0 - 0.5 ABY mentions the Bounty Hunter Wars, but it doesn't mention Cradossk's death. If his death happened at the start of the Wars, you can probably state that it occurred in 0 ABY.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 01:49, March 17, 2015 (UTC)

Manoof, you struck your objections on my Crispus Commons nomination and added +1 to the total for support, but it looks like you forgot to sign your name in the Support section. ProfessorTofty (talk) 17:42, March 17, 2015 (UTC)

If you're going to be fixing infoboxes, please be sure to change the {{Tl|Droid} infobox to {{Droid_series}} when the article isn't about an individual droid. Cade Calrayn 15:52, March 27, 2015 (UTC)

Hi! You had probably weighed in on my comprehensive article nomination for "Wish You Among the Stars," which was ended because the article ended up exceeding the word count. I have now recreated this as a good article nomination here. ProfessorTofty (talk) 15:53, March 30, 2015 (UTC)

Manoof, since you supported my nomination for Crispus Commons, just thought I'd let you know that I made a couple of updates based on some new information in case you want to have a look. Thanks! ProfessorTofty (talk) 01:45, April 9, 2015 (UTC)

Hey Manoof. Unfortunately I currently don't have access to the majority of my Star Wars collection (and won't until August at the earliest), so I don't think I'll be able to check that for you, sorry. I'm sure someone else has access to the book, though; ask around and I'm sure you'll find someone. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. CC7567 01:44, April 10, 2015 (UTC)

Hey! So, the guide says the AT-TE was developed by Rothana and produced at KDY. It doesn't give any dates. Hope that answers your question! MasterFred 02:12, April 25, 2015 (UTC)

I, Master Jonathan, do hereby award Manoof the Sentient Droid the Pit Droid Award of Diligence for all of its (his?) numerous edits and hours of work spent on fixing infoboxes and other monotonous work.

The work you are doing may seem minor, in that it doesn't usually change the visual output of the articles, but on a technical level, work like this is critical to the smooth operation of Wookieepedia. And it's long past time that you received a formal award for this work. Keep it up and you just might render bots obsolete! (OK, not really. But thank you for the effort anyway. :) ) 08:19, April 30, 2015 (UTC)

Hey, sorry I took so long to respond. I just got busy and kind of forgot. Anyway, if you're still looking for info on Star Wars #48, it does not establish the year, and neither do the issues before or after. However, it does take place between Empire and Jedi so the year has to be either 3 or 4 ABY. Hope that helps.--Hobbie (talk) 00:38, May 3, 2015 (UTC)

I have images of most/all of the cards in my personal files.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 22:59, May 20, 2015 (UTC)

The RPGseed template should contain information related to player involvement in a suggested adventure seed provided in a roleplaying book or article. Basically an adventure seed is not a fully fledged out adventure, it just gives a brief idea and provides a suggestion for how the events should unfold. As the player involvement is less defined that in a standard adventure, we have this template to denote this. The only thing I was trying to say on the nomination page was where the RPGseed template is to be used. You are correct that the investigation should probably be mentioned in the BTS in addition to the main body.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 13:43, May 25, 2015 (UTC)

So, the closest we have is this line: "This switch moves the communications dish to allow you to intercept some Imperial messages." It does not mention Stavan by name. I hope this helps! Pg 27. --Clonehunter 22:38, June 1, 2015 (UTC)

Since you supported my Comprehensive article nomination for Kiffu, this is to let you know that the article is updated with new information from the recent Databank update. ProfessorTofty (talk) 22:56, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

Sounds good, sorry about that. I had copied the infobox over from Klaatu, which apparently was missing parameters as well, instead of copying from the template page. 04:59, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

The section where they lose contact with Sev does say 1,088 days ABG. The scene at the barracks then starts at 0600, 1,089 days ABG. Trip391 (talk) 08:43, June 15, 2015 (UTC)

Another one of these updates, this time to let you know that I've made some pretty significant updates to Voorpee, which you voted for as a Good Article, based on the release of Jedi Academy: The Phantom Bully. ProfessorTofty (talk) 00:05, July 12, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for taking care of that, Manoof. CC7567 05:27, July 31, 2015 (UTC)

Hello Manoof, I noticed that on several occasions when you fixed infoboxes, you also added unsourced info to quality articles, such as what I just noticed you did with R3-S6. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the only occasion that I noticed either. Please be more careful and, when you do add more stuff while fixing infoboxes, to actually source additions made to quality articles. Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 14:52, August 10, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for welcoming me to the project, glad to be part of it! My current plan is to expand on Deathstick's connections whenever I've got the time to go through the source material again (it's a bit time consuming to watch the Lets Plays- even though it's very fun!) and move onto expanding the info about other characters and their connections from the game.

I'm sorry for the mistake, but there was a mistake, two sources fighting on the name of the Clawdite Bouty Hunter. Now it's correct, Zam Wesell. I'm sorry 'cause I answer only now. Goodnight, Bouty killer- Riccardo De Col --DeCol (talk) 01:32, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I had a follow-up question about the pronouns discussion we had. For Droids with unspecified pronouns do we refer to them as "they" or "it"? I know in the past Wook used "It" for Droids with unspecified genders but I was wondering if that policy had changed since Wook stopped conflating Gender and Pronouns? JM1998 (talk) 04:31, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Modern English writing often uses the singular they/them to refer to people with unspecified or unknown pronouns. Perhaps we could adopt a similar convention for characters with unconfirmed pronouns. The current page on your workbench states that they/them can be used for droids if the pronoun is unknown but I think we should use that for characters as well. They/them wouldn't go in the infobox as the pronouns, but the article could use them gender-neutrally in order to avoid awkward sentences or redundant uses of the character's name. Just a thought. Other than that, it looks great and is free from errors as far as I can tell. Jarhead002 (talk) 02:54, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Hey Manoof. Regarding Rhee and Eron, I do not think that reads that they are mothers, more that they collectively would be good mothers to the child. I still think it's assumptious to assume they're in a relationship. Siblings can live together. They're 100% in scope, but their unconfirmed status puts them in the "unconfirmed" section of the WP's scope, similar to Rondale Merced (a similar situation) and my personal favorite Unidentified Twi'lek male server. They're not being removed from the scope, they still exist in scope and can be celebrated as LGBTQ+ favorites, but for the Wook's and WP's purposes, they are unconfirmed. NBDani 23:05, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

Hey there, Manoof. I've recently been using a screenreader to look around on Wook and read some of the forums, and I've noticed that your signature doesn't render at all with what I use. Could you potentially modify the text that you use? It's extremely difficult to read both via a reader and visually, and I'm not doing too well. I've noticed that the articles themselves don't use a lot of special characters, so perhaps you could lessen the amount in yours so I (and no doubt anyone else who uses a screenreading device) can read it? I know it's not against any current policy, but speaking from a disability and accessibility standpoint, it's not good. Regards, —

"

Imperators II 19:22, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

Hey Manoof, wanted to raise an issue with your signature. I know it's been brought up before, but I've had a few people note to me that they've had difficulty reading your signature visually, and that it does not render with screen readers. Would you mind tweaking that to improve readability and accessibility? Thanks. Supreme Emperor 05:17, 6 May 2024 (UTC)

QOTD advice

Disappointed

RC clones

Hey, Manoof, good job on these RC clones. Two of them are over 250 words now, so I archive them later (its 3 am at my location), so that you can take them to GAN. Clone Commander Lee 00:56, April 6, 2014 (UTC)

Re: source of the image

  • Ok, thanks for the information about the mod ;) Maguinic (talk) 11:27, April 23, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Clone troopers confusion

Hmmm, my thoughts have always been that Human should be included in Clone trooper articles, and I've also thought that the idea was that our articles are to be written as though they are being read by people that know nothing about Star Wars so that every bit of information is included. I'll see what the others think, but this may have to go to a larger discussion. Commander Code-8 09:09, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

  • That is incorrect. Mentioning Human male or just Human clone trooper is redundant since saying "clone trooper" alone already covers it. JangFett 13:28, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

Star Wars Miniatures: Universe

  • I was just looking for the info pertaining to Nom Anor, and I didn't really know what there would be. Cav managed to find me the info for Universe too, but I forgot to inform you about that unfortunately. :/ Thanks anyways, 501st 14:12, December 21, 2014 (UTC)

Into the Great Unknown

Just to let you know, I fixed the infobox error in Into the Great Unknown.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 15:36, January 3, 2015 (UTC)

Character infobox

Hello, in your recent edits, you have been changing infoboxes from "Character" to "Character infobox" which is a redirect. As "Character" is the correct, non-redirect form, please change all of the infoboxes back to saying "Character" without infobox. Thank you.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 06:15, January 11, 2015 (UTC)

  • To make things clear, "Character infobox" still works properly, there just isn't any reason to have the "infobox" tacked on the end. Your addition/fixing of the fields (i.e. "|mass=") is what is removing the pages from the missing parameters category.--Exiled Jedi(Greetings) 06:36, January 11, 2015 (UTC)

Re:Racer game guide

Republic Commando turrets

Regarding your edit on Stavan

  • I am quite certain that the transmission was not sent by Desann. It was definitely Fyyar's voice. Path-x (talk) 23:08, February 4, 2015 (UTC)
  • It is definitely not Desann. It is Fayyar and that is clearly stated in the game. The decoded conversation between Fayyar and Kejim base contains four pieces:
  • Therefore please check the game again and correct the article accordingly. Path-x (talk) 10:21, February 5, 2015 (UTC)
  • I am sorry but making the conclusion based on your hearing perception is completely subjective and not acceptable. To you it sounds like Desann, to me it sounds like Fyyar, so we won't get anywhere with that. The fact is that the same cut scene mentions transmission from Fyyar. You may make a far-fetched assumption that it refers to another transmission, however that does not make any sense from the game mechanics perspective. The particular cut scene was designed to to tell the player something, not to confuse the player. Additional story-perspective argument is that Admiral Fyyar was part of Imperial remnant military and therefore Stavan was in his direct chain of command, which makes it obvious that he would be the one to remove him from the post. Desann was not part of the military and had no reason to manage the relatively low-level business in the military. Path-x (talk) 17:28, February 6, 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the edit. I agree that it is the best to keep the author of the transmission undisclosed until we get some official confirmation. But the only way to confirm this would be contacting either LucasArts or Raven Software. Path-x (talk) 12:59, February 7, 2015 (UTC)
  • I am glad we sorted it out. Thank you for correcting it back. Path-x (talk) 20:15, March 3, 2015 (UTC)

Omnibus A Long Time Ago Answer

Re: New Essential Chronology question

I don't see anything relating to the events on Aargau, but I do see that it places the events of Star Wars 52 between 3 ABY and 3.5 ABY. I don't know too much about the old Marvel comics, but if the stories are chronological, you should be able to place Star Wars 48 in 3 ABY.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 02:48, February 26, 2015 (UTC)

What are you doing with changing the legends and Canon articles

Legends articles that only exist in canon sources

Please note that any subject that only exists in canon sources prior to the Canon announcement should still have a Legends article. While I am unsure if those articles you changed are particularly worthy of having any pages, please do not simply change Legends pages into Canon articles. Thank you.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 12:42, February 27, 2015 (UTC)

RE: AT-TE

Re: Another NEC question

Well, a section labeled 0 - 0.5 ABY mentions the Bounty Hunter Wars, but it doesn't mention Cradossk's death. If his death happened at the start of the Wars, you can probably state that it occurred in 0 ABY.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 01:49, March 17, 2015 (UTC)

  • I would check to see if there is a source that says how long the Wars lasted. Then you might be able to definitively place it in 0 ABY.--Exiled Jedi(Greetings) 01:54, March 17, 2015 (UTC)

The Pit Droid Award of Diligence

The Pit Droid Award of Diligence

A long time ago volume 2

Hey, sorry I took so long to respond. I just got busy and kind of forgot. Anyway, if you're still looking for info on Star Wars #48, it does not establish the year, and neither do the issues before or after. However, it does take place between Empire and Jedi so the year has to be either 3 or 4 ABY. Hope that helps.--Hobbie (talk) 00:38, May 3, 2015 (UTC)

Re: RPGseed template

Reloading infoboxes

Hello Manoof, I noticed that on several occasions when you fixed infoboxes, you also added unsourced info to quality articles, such as what I just noticed you did with R3-S6. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the only occasion that I noticed either. Please be more careful and, when you do add more stuff while fixing infoboxes, to actually source additions made to quality articles. Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 14:52, August 10, 2015 (UTC)

Although it didn't make much difference in the end, it seems like it would be beneficial if you responded to questions in tc's unlike in these two. Lewisr (talk) 16:43, 4 February 2023 (UTC)

Droid Pronouns

Hi, I had a follow-up question about the pronouns discussion we had. For Droids with unspecified pronouns do we refer to them as "they" or "it"? I know in the past Wook used "It" for Droids with unspecified genders but I was wondering if that policy had changed since Wook stopped conflating Gender and Pronouns? Pronouns and Gender Suggestion

Bitter Pill Company

Hey Manoof! I saw you added an update tag on Bitter Pill Company regarding Galaxy of Heroes. I am not a massive expert on the game but I understand that you may be. What kind of update am I expecting here? Are you able to help me out with it? Braha'tok enthusiast 20:03, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

  • Everything in-game is in Drogan's page, not sure what is missing maybe bts info if it was a 1st appearance ℳÅℕ☉❂Ⅎ 03:27, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

  • No idea sorry, you'd have to check the sources/appearances lists of relevant pages to see what they say ℳÅℕ☉❂Ⅎ 03:29, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Eron and Rhee

  • Then you're assuming they are not in a relationship and are siblings, which is much more unlikely than assuming they are in a relationship. If two siblings live together and a child is sent to them, there would not be an expectation for that child to be raised by both siblings as the child's parents. Why? As siblings, it would be expected that one or both would eventually move out to pursue their own relationship/family. The child would be entrusted with one or the other sibling rather than both, unless both were in a long-term stable relationship together. The reference to calling them mothers, combined with the fact that the child was sent to live with them (thus they are cohabiting), are aunts to the child and have no evidence to support the stance you are taking (that they are sisters) are confirmation of them being in a same-sex relationship. To ignore this is to support heteronormativity and queer erasure given the shrinkage to the LGBTQ+ category in the last few months. Further, supposed heterosexual relationships are not put to the same scrutiny or mental leaps. Maybe Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen are siblings, since siblings can be affectionate and live together and love each other? Even Nash's parents are taken to be in a relationship when referred to as mother by Nash, maybe they're sisters and it's purely plutonic! My point being that if this were an aunt and uncle, there wouldn't be an argument) ℳÅℕ☉❂Ⅎ 20:21, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

Signature accessibility

Regards, —

Signature

Hey Manoof, wanted to raise an issue with your signature. I know it's been brought up before, but I've had a few people note to me that they've had difficulty reading your signature visually, and that it does not render with screen readers. Would you mind tweaking that to improve readability and accessibility? Thanks. Supreme Emperor 05:17, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
