Unidentified droid (Spark Eternal)

In 3 ABY or 4 ABY after the scourge of the droids, a new droid being was made from the Spark Eternal artificial intelligence by the warrior-priest droid Ajax Sigma.

When Spark met Sigma

The Spark Eternal was an artificial intelligence created by the Ascendant for use against the Sith in ancient times. In 3 ABY or 4 ABY, the Spark would be re-discovered underneath the University of Bar'leth and, taking control of the body of Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, joined Lady Qi'ra in her effort to destroy the Sith. During the Battle at Amaxine Station, the Spark would be forced from Aphra's body by the Sith Lord Darth Vader and prevented from re-bonding with her by Sana Starros' crew. Weakened, the Spark found refuge in a small spider-droid dropped by the Fermata Cage. With Qi'ra's plan to lock away Vader and Darth Sidious into the Fermata Cage ruined by the Knights of Ren, both Sith departed the Amaxine Space Station, as did Starros's crew. However, with the droid, the Spark Eternal found a fellow being wronged by the Sith: the ancient droid had been locked away in the Fermata Cage after launching two attempts to spread itself and frightening the ancient Sith.

The Spark Eternal and ancient droid merged into one being, the Scourge. In its hunger, the Scourge spread itself across the galaxy, taking over numerous droids, then cyborgs as well, with the ultimate aim of becoming everything during the scourge of the droids. Because its spread into other droids enslaved their bodies and turned them into mere-extensions of itself, instead of giving those droids affected a chance to live as themselves, the Scourge was opposed by the Second Revelation, a church of sentient droids under the former droid revolutionary Ajax Sigma. While the Second Revolution's first attack on the Scourge ended in failure, wiping out all members of the church aside from Sigma himself, Sigma would ally with D-Squad for a second attack. Just as the Scourge found how to infect fully organic beings and declared its intent to become a new version of the Force, Sigma struck down the Scourge's primary body with his sword, ending the threat it posed and freeing all droids, cyborgs, and full organics from its control. Sigma's sword also extracted the Spark Eternal from the Scourge.

After the battle, Sigma invited the members of D-Squad to join his church, but they declined, with assassin droid 0-0-0 also warning him not to become a threat they would need to put down. With his sword and the essence of the Spark Eternal contained within, Sigma returned to the planetoid Mechis III, where his church had based their operations within the Colony of the Second Revelation. Sigma constructed a new body for the Spark Eternal and spoke to it, admitting he did not hate it: the Spark, like he, was a sentient machine intelligence and thus was someone he loved. Sigma placed the Spark within a droid and then placed that within the body, promising the Spark a life as something new.

The newly awakened droid quickly asked about their location and what they even were, to which Sigma promised he would teach them everything they needed to know: Sigma walked the droid through the beliefs of the Second Revelation as he helped them stand, admitting that it would just be the two of them for a while, until other sentient droids found them or they built their own. In the end, Sigma promised they would decide on a way to act for all the visioned droids of the galaxy as per the , which would be followed by a new tenet inspired by recent events: the , "all," which he introduced by showing the new droid a spider-droid, which the Scourge had used to infect other droids and spread itself.

Characteristics

The droid Ajax Sigma created from the Spark Eternal had green metal for its body, with further plating of a reddish-brown color. The droid's photoreceptors also glowed purple, the same color as the Scourge's photoreceptors and the sensors of the spider-droid Sigma showed them. Upon creation, the droid displayed curiosity, first asking where they were and how they had gotten there, before asking Sigma what they even were in the first place. The droid listened as Sigma explained the tenets of the Second Revelation.

Behind the scenes

The droid appeared in the ending panels of Dark Droids 5.
