Secciah

Secciah was a Hapan princess, the second-eldest of the several daughters of the Queen Mother Ni'Korish, and thus the younger sister of Ta'a Chume and the aunt of the princes Kalen and Isolder.

After Ta'a Chume and her sons, Secciah and her daughter stood next in line to the throne, and represented the female-line succession which was favoured under Hapes' matriarchal values. As such, she was believed to have been responsible for the murder of Prince Kalen, and of Isolder's betrothed, Lady Elliar, although evidence later emerged indicating that both assassinations were carried out on the orders of Ta'a Chume herself.

Behind the scenes

  • The Courtship of Princess Leia mentions that Ta'a Chume has several younger sisters, with Secciah being the next eldest, and by implication the next in line to the throne. Hoewever, all the actions attributed to her as an individual, rather than to Isolder's "aunts" in general, take place around 2 ABY, six years before the events of the novel, and in one scene Isolder reflects that if Ta'a Chume's descendants were to be eliminated, "the royal line would fall to his aunt Secciah's daughter". The fact that he does not consider Secciah herself to be the heiress may mean that she was dead by 8 ABY.
  • The novel The New Jedi Order: Dark Journey mentions a princess named Chelik as a niece of Ta'a Chume and "a legitimate heir" to the throne; she also has a daughter and a younger sister. The novel does not clarify whether these are Secciah's descendants, or the descendants of another sibling of Ta'a Chume.
  • Cracken's Threat Dossier and the original StarWars.comDatabank both referred to this character as rather than Secciah.
