M-6NK

Biography

M-6NK "Monk" met the Latero pilot Greez Dritus while bartending in an underworld gambling den at a sabacc table Dritus frequented. The Latero sought a business partner, and Monk sought a way out of his employment. The droid informed Dritus that the saloon's previous proprietor Abel Drongite fell foul of the marauder group Bedlam Raiders and the establishment was for the taking,

Monk found the work at the gambling den—particularly his responsibilities in the back of the house—to be very distasteful, saying he would choose the Bedlam Raiders over his previous employer any day of the week. This work included leveraging information he had heard while at the bar against customers, and his employer was unlikely to ever let Monk quit. Fortunately, Monk was able to escape due to a restraining bolt malfunction. In any case, Monk preferred not to discuss his past.

His relationship with Dritus was far more amicable, though the pair would often bicker and disagree on issues. Despite that, Monk knew Dritus was far better than his previous employer. He stated that he would have to be dragged out of Pyloon's in a scrap box as much preferred the job compared to his previous distasteful employer. In 9 BBY, upon meeting Cal Kestis, Monk told the Jedi that he thought Dritus had made him up due to him constantly talking about Kestis.

He kept good relations with the patrons of Pyloon's as well as keeping tabs on them. He was aware that Turgle had an outstanding debt of a small fortune, and would trust Mosey Cimmaron completely if she was to become the saloon's bouncer. He took a keen interest in ZN-A4 (Zee), a droid from the High Republic era that Kestis rescued from beneath the saloon. He would often refer to her as "Heritage" and believed she livened the place up.

Monk believed that to be a good bartender you needed to multitask effectively, have a good memory, be bestowed with the gift of the gab, and master the art of mixology. His philosophy was that the better the drinks, the happier the clientele were, thus meaning the more they would talk, and the more Monk would learn what made them tick. Monk spent his time behind the bar listening to all of the conversations the patrons would indulge in. He had heard of a traveling troubadour and a DJ who were exploring the planet and informed Kestis. The wanderers turned out to be the musician Ashe Javi and their droid DD-EC, who became the resident musicians performing at Pyloon's.

Monk believed every client had a tell and that his tell was his incurable honesty. He knew that most things in the galaxy were out of anyone's control, and they could only react to what the galaxy threw at them.

When he was not actively listening to the bar patrons, Monk would fill the air with his singing, often making up ditties as he went.

Thanks to his previous line of work, Monk had connections to Imperial channels and was aware that Koboh was now on the radar of the Empire. When an Imperial-class Star Destroyer appeared above the planet, Monk thought about creating a new drink to mark the occasion.

Equipment

Monk was fitted with a small tank filled with alcoholic beverage, four arms—the inferior two arms functioned as beverage dispensers—an optical scanner, and four hundred olfactory sensors, which can each simultaneously detect a different smell.
