The generalirius commanded the Illumine's battle fleet, the Illumine Kilhorde, and led the followers of the Illumine's religion. The generalirius's decisions were approved by the Illumine's Kilji Overlords.
In 18 BBY, the Kilji Nakirre served the Illumine as its generalirius, commanding the Kilji war cruiser Whetstone and several Kilji vassals, followers of the Illumine's religion. He was murdered by his former Grysk ally, "Jixtus," aboard the Whetstone while in the Unknown Regions "Sunrise" system, after the Kilhorde was destroyed by the Paataatus Hiveborn nation, rendering Nakirre useless to the Grysk operative.

As a result, the vassals followed the ruler's every command without question. The generalirius's decisions were approved by the Illumine's Kilji Overlords.
Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo (pictured) revealed that the Paataatus had destroyed the Illumine Kilhorde, prompting the Grysk known as "Jixtus" to murder Generalirius Nakirre.
In 18 BBY, the Grysk commander of the Shatter-class WarMaster HopeBreaker spoke with the Admiral Ar'alani of the Chiss Ascendancy nation's Nightdragon man-of-war Vigilant in the Unknown Regions star system known as the "Sunrise" system. After speaking with the Grysk, who mentioned the title of generalirius, and destroying the HopeBreaker, Ar'alani speculated that the title could be related to the title of generalissimo—a title held by the chief civilian leader and chief military commander of several nations located beyond the Unknown Regions Tarleev location.
In the same year, the Kilji Nakirre held the title of generalirius, ruling the Illumine and commanding the Kilhorde from the Kilji war cruiser Whetstone, on which he led several vassals. With the Kilji Overlords' approval, Nakirre began to travel with the coordinator of the Grysks, an operative known as "Jixtus," who promised to guide the Kilhorde's conquests of enlightenment. In exchange, the generalirius allowed the Grysk to travel aboard his war cruiser while they instigated a crisis in the Ascendancy and the Illumine's battle fleet conquered several worlds and peoples to the southeast of the Chiss nation.
However, the Chiss and the Paataatus Hiveborn nation teamed up to destroy the Kilhorde, liberating the worlds and peoples the Illumine fleet had conquered. After a Paataatus attack fleet destroyed the Kilhorde, the Whetstone traveled to the Sunrise system, where the Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo informed Nakirre that his fleet had been destroyed by the Paataatus. That revelation prompted Jixtus to kill the generalirius, as he deemed him useless without the Kilhorde.
The title of generalirius was first mentioned in Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, a novel written by Timothy Zahn as the second volume of his Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy. The novel was released on April 27, 2021. A generalirius, Nakirre, appeared in the third volume of the trilogy, Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, released on November 16 of the same year.
