Coron Solstus

Biography

Around 382 BBY, Solstus was a Padawan and worked as part of a Pathfinder team alongside several other Jedi, including his master Sula Badani. He was copiloting the Witherbloom when a starship appeared out of hyperspace right in front of them. The Padawan took evasive action and was able to avoid a collision. When the ship opened fire on the Pathfinder vessel, Xinith Tarl ordered Solstus to target their weapons systems in an attempt to disable the ship. The unidentified vessel responded by ramming the Witherbloom, causing both vessels to crash on a nearby planet. After coming to a halt on the surface, Solstus left the cockpit and went to check on the other passengers. Badani ordered Solstus to assist her with opening the hatch using the Force, since it was buckled shut due to the wreck. He initially was unable to clear his mind enough to focus, but was finally able to assist Badani in blowing open the door to the ship. Solstus fled the wreckage with the rest of the crew and surveyed the area with his master. He suggested that the group go look for the other ship as they might have needed supplies and injured people that needed assistance.

They approached the wreckage and Rok Buran suggested they split into two teams to search the downed ship. Badani ordered Solstus to accompany Buran to the bridge of the ship. They entered the ship and ignited their lightsabers for illumination. As they proceeded, Solstus asked Buran if he had been in a situation like this before, and the Master responded that he had been many times before. The Padawan asked Buran about his lost apprentice and he started to explain about the Mission to Gloam. The pair entered the bridge and Solstus confirmed there was still residual power in the equipment and it might be possible to broadcast a distress signal. Before they could continue, they were overwhelmed by a disorienting effect that clouded their senses. At the same time, a Weequay leapt out of hiding and attacked Solstus with a metal club.

Solstus was unable to defend himself with his senses muddled but Buran interceded and disarmed the Weequay. When the sensation passed, Solstus took some wires from a control panel and used them to bind their prisoner. He and Buran questioned the man about what had affected the Jedi but all they found out was that it was a creature that would bring the Jedi Order to its knees. Solstus continued to examine the control panels but discovered the Weequay's attack had damaged the comms beyond repair. The Padawan thought he could setup a continuous distress signal but it would take some time. He wondered what happened on Jedha and why the Path of the Open Hand had turned into extremists. Buran asked Solstus if the scanners still worked and the Padawan confirmed the short-ranged ones were operational. He activated and was able to detect the creature on the hull of the rear part of the ship. Buran told the padawan to watch the scanner and as soon as they had a clear path back to the others, they would make a break for it. When the opportunity arose, the Jedi and their Weequay prisoner ran toward the other part of the ship. Before they could make much progress, Solstus and Buran were overcome by the creature's effect again. They retreated back to the wreckage as the creature attacked the Weequay. Safely inside the front of the wreckage, Solstus observed the creature being shocked by Pako rerouting the ship's power through the hull. As he and Buran ran to the other wreckage, they could feel the effect from the creature returning. When they got to their destination, Solstus realized there was no way into the wreckage and they were trapped by the creature.

The two Jedi were able to escape the creature when Buran cut a hole in the side of the hull with his lightsaber. Solstus admitted to being scared and giving into his fear. Buran told him that he was also scared but a Jedi could not dwell on it and had to carry on. The pair were then found by a group of Path of the Open Hand members. The Jedi and Path members agreed to a truce and returned to the cargo bay to join up with the rest of the survivors. Pako objected to the Path's presence, stating the current situation was their fault but Solstus explained that the only way they would get out was if they all cooperated. The Padawan conferred with the Masters on what the creature might be and how it affected them. Pako came up with a plan to overload the engines and trap the creature in the wreckage to kill it and Solstus enthusiastically agreed. Wole told the group that they would need power to fire up the engine and Solstus informed him that the front part of the ship still had some power. He volunteered to travel back to the other part of the wreckage, connect the power cables, and start the engines. Badani wanted to accompany him, but Buran stated he would go instead. The pair made their way back to the hole in the hull and discussed the plan. Solstus would carry a cable connected to the rear part of the ship while Buran would exit first and attempt to draw off the creature. As the two ran from the wreckage, they began to feel the effect of the creature. Solstus made it to the front end of the wreckage as Buran noticed the creature enter the rear of the ship. Buran commanded Solstus to continue with his part of the plan as the Master went back to warn the others.

Solstus entered the front part of the wreckage and connected the cable to provide power to the engines. He returned to the other part of the ship to assist with evacuating the rest of the survivors. Badani returned after losing her arm in a duel with the creature and Solstus embraced her warmly. As the herd of creatures closed in, the Padawan was ordered by Badani to assist Buran with removing the survivors and to make sure Xinith Tarl could report back to the Jedi Council. He escaped the ship and the subsequent explosion but was distraught when Badani was unable to get to safety. Solstus was comforted by Buran.

Later, Solstus trained future Jedi Master Cibaba.
