Assimilator

Characteristics

Ruthless and aggressive, Assimilators were made of specialized bio-components and were essentially a jumble of organics and circuitry, though were fully sentient and possessed personalities. Key to their construction was the ability to self-repair, rebuild damaged parts, and assimilate mechanical and organic parts into themselves; an Assimilator could theoretically live for centuries by simply replacing its own components, with even the brain being interchangeable.

It was exceptionally hard to permanently kill an Assimilator; Assimilators could repair themselves from even the most egregious injuries, and so long as any sizable component was left behind they could reconstitute themselves - though this could take time. Because of this, it was said that the only sure way to kill an Assimilator was to atomize it into its base constituents.

History

Created by the Arkanian Renegades as part of their effort to overthrow the government of Arkania, the Arkanian Dominion, the Assimilators were created as living weapons and powerful foot soldiers. In retaliation, the techno-lords of the Dominion created Accelerated Transgenic Heuristic Abhorers. After the Arkanian Dominion and Republic jointly crushed the Renegades, many of their creations escaped into the galaxy.

The most famous Assimilator was Gorm the Dissolver who would pursue a career as a bounty hunter, survive multiple encounters with Jedi, and repair himself after being shot in the back of the head by a lucky Greedo.
