The Arkanian Renegades were a group of geneticists on Arkania who attempted to overthrow the planet's government in 50 BBY. They objected to the systematic alteration of the Yaka species by means of involuntary cybernetic implants, and built a legendary army of Assimilator cyborgs almost from scratch to defeat the Dominion. They were ultimately defeated by the timely intervention of the Jedi Knights, but some of their creations—Gorm the Dissolver among them—lived on.
