A slice of Nantoon Treasure Cake

As part of a culinary tour of the galaxy that he took between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs visited Nantoon. While on the world, he considered trying to track down a treasure vault that his former employer, Pirate Queen Maz Kanata had told him about; however, he ultimately chose to avoid such a dangerous venture and instead rewarded his good judgment with a slice of Nantoon Treasure Cake. Tuggs later included a recipe for the Nantoonian cake in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published in 35 ABY. In the book, he described the confectionery filling as the secret treasure of the cake, musing that while it would not make him rich, it would also not cause his death.

Behind the scenes

Nantoon Treasure Cake was created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the cake makes use of cake flour, baking powder, kosher salt, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, large eggs, vanilla extract, buttermilk, and blue food gel dye. For the frosting it uses softened, unsalted butter, confectioners' sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, more kosher salt, more vanilla extract, and heavy cream. Finally, for the filling and garnish, the recipe uses chocolate-coated candies, sprinkles, and crushed pretzels.
