Dominic Pace

Hello! First off in regards with "Gekko", currently there is no official source for the name so its best to leave that bit on his page, maybe eventually it will be confirmed! Secondly regarding your interview, you will need to create a page like where you can provide the full text of the interview. I believe it would be beneficial for you to check the interviews policy so you can see what you need to do. And then you should check here where you can see examples of how you will need to fill out the interview page --Lewisr (talk) 15:49, December 31, 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the update. With regards to Gekko, what does it take to formally constitute the official name? It's what has been listed in several meetings and fan events. Does something from the Mandalorian page have to say as much? The interview was done via text/instagram. Once again, thank you! --ChancellorFaust () 15:53, December 31, 2019 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

  • Generally the name would need to be confirmed by something that has been authorized by Lucasfilm or Disney, whether it be a press article or something in The Topps Company, Inc. for example, it needs to come from an official source. So for the moment, it seems like its just been used in a kind of unofficial way. No problem, feel free to ask if you need any help with anything! --Lewisr (talk) 16:08, December 31, 2019 (UTC)
  • Yeah, User: Lewisr there are two Topps artists working on the cards: Jay Manchard and Nick Gribbon. Both have shared the images used for Gekko on Facebook/Insta and I have messages from Jay indicated that he will be referred to as Gekko on the card(s). The cards are released officially tomorrow and both are making social media posts about it. I really am just curious about the best way to site them on here. That's fantastic User:Lewisr Made my day and I so appreciate it. Do I have to have someone manually change the Unidentified Bounty Hunter page that current holds the Gekko spot or what? Again, so sorry for all the questions. Tomorrow, I will go in and use the Topps template and update the page accordingly. ChancellorFaust () 20:08, 3 November 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

RE: Dominic Pace

Hello there! I have reviewed the article and it had multiple formatting issues per our Manual of Style. Here, you can see what was wrong with it. I believe I've fixed them all for you, and removed the Cleanup tag; however, as you can see, the article still contains unsourced information. For example, to source that Pace plans on attending Celebration Anahheim, I've used one of his tweets that says so. If you are willing to fix all the issues related to Dominic Pace's article, I suggest that you should properly source the rest of the unsourced sections of the article. • Hey there. Per Wookieepedia:Attribution, "any in-universe articles must be based on canonical sources officially licensed by Lucasfilm." As far as I can see, Gekko is only mentioned in the actor's interviews, so an article for the character cannot be created and the name can't be used in in-universe articles, at least for now. It can only be created when the name is used in a Lucasfilm-licenced source, such as a StarWars.com article, an official Star Wars social media account post, a reference book, an issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine, etc. For now, Gekko redirects to the article for Dominic Pace, so anyone who searches for Gekko on Wookieepedia can learn about the character there. Sorry for the late response, and hope this helps! (talk) 05:01, January 11, 2020 (UTC)

Some tips

When citing social media posts such as tweets, you must follow the Sourcing policy. Another thing, links to pages must be done properly instead of pasting the URL. UberSoldat93 (talk) 14:15, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

  • That's cool, but you need to use Template:Twitter when citing tweets. Make sure to provide screenshots as well for archiving purposes. UberSoldat93 (talk) 14:46, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

Twitter

Hello! What you need to do is fill out the template using the examples provided on the page. But I added one here to show you an example of what you need to do if that is helpful for you? --Lewisr (talk) 16:48, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

  • Thank you! No problem, glad to help :) --Lewisr (talk) 17:23, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

Re: Dominic Pace

Hi there. AnilSerifoglu was kind enough to reupload the with proper formatting and sourcing. Take a look at the file description page he added. The image should be fine now. Also, since there is a version without a watermark (i.e. straight from the episode), that's what we should utilize. Cheers, 1358 (Talk) 18:37, January 3, 2020 (UTC)

Seriously you guys are great. Thanks for being so patient as I learn the ropes. --ChancellorFaust () 19:14, January 3, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

Gekko

I did make a page for Gekko before, but it was deleted as there is no official source with the name, only interviews and fan-made merchandise so far. I'm hoping reference material released in the future can remedy this. UberSoldat93 (talk) 13:41, January 8, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hi Shayanomer. Thanks for the info. What can constitute an official source? The reason I ask is that I am working directly with the actor and there have been some internal emails/discussions with individuals on the Mandalorian production team referencing this as the character name. I obviously don't want to overstep any bounds, but I don't have reference material that has been made public at this time. Thoughts? --ChancellorFaust () 13:48, January 8, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust
  • Hey User:UberSoldat93 I updated the Unidentified Bounty Hunter (Nevarro) page and also Dominic Pace. He officially has a name now according to Topps as Gekko. Can we change the Unidentified Bounty Hunter page to officially reflect Gekko?? Thanks again! ChancellorFaust () 14:50, 5 November 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust
  • User:UberSoldat93 So even though it has the Star Wars logo and the Topps logo on the card, it was approved for distribution by Topps and the artist is licensed by Topps, it's considered fan art? That doesn't make any sense. I don't want to seem unthankful for all you're help, but it seems like it fits all the categories as was previously requested. Is there is no way to appeal this? ChancellorFaust () 18:42, 5 November 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust
  • User:DarthRuiz30 Thanks for the message and trust me, I do appreciate the assistance from everyone. Just frustrating to think that you've spent months and months to meet all the requirements only to find out that there are even more layers. So there isn't anything else to do then?ChancellorFaust () 19:04, 5 November 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust
  • Hello User:DarthRuiz30 and User:Ayrehead02 Wondering if there had been a chance to send over the exact provision/language that lists why a sketch card as not canon? Thanks in advance. ChancellorFaust () 17:46, 15 November 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust
  • Hey User:DarthRuiz30 I see that you're online. Any update on the above query? I am looking for the official policy. I've tried reaching the admins in several different ways. I am looking for justification as I can't find it anywhere that Sketch cards aren't official, as you've stated.ChancellorFaust () 00:35, 21 November 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

Gekko page

Hello! What you need to add is:

==Appearances== *{{TheMandalorian|Chapter 1: The Mandalorian}} {{1st}} *{{TheMandalorian|Chapter 3: The Sin}}

Also, the page will need to be moved to something like that "Unidentified bounty hunter" since Gekko is not an official name. But I believe User:UberSoldat93 is going to help with that --Lewisr (talk) 00:44, July 19, 2020 (UTC)

Hi! I tried to upload two separate images, following all of the category and licensing instructions and neither appeared. I also attempted to insert a Character infobox template, but I'm getting the extension hook error message. I seem to be following all of the instructions as outlined, but I am wondering if this is a permissions issue. Thanks as always --ChancellorFaust () 16:25, July 19, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

  • Hello! I'm unsure on the image since if you followed all the instructions then it should appear. I would suggest either trying again or speaking with one of the admins. With the infobox, did you add the whole template? --Lewisr (talk) 17:03, July 19, 2020 (UTC)

The images show up in my contributions and uploads file and I inserted the infobox template and filed out as much as I could. the image is called GekkoBountyHunterNevarro If you could look at it and see if I'm missing something, I would appreciate it. I'm learning as I go, but this has been a great help. --ChancellorFaust () 17:06, July 19, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

  • Don't forget to include the source of where the image comes from, you'll need to add that in the source section of the file upload. No worries, we were all at that stage at some point so happy to help --Lewisr (talk) 17:41, July 19, 2020 (UTC)

I updated the source to be correctly formatted. Main issue now is the blasted text box. I selected the Bounty Hunter preload. It's not showing up in the article and I'm running out of ideas. By the way, thanks for understanding my noob-ness --ChancellorFaust () 17:46, July 19, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

  • Also remember to go back and do the same for File:GekkoBountyHunter4.jpg, its just to prevent the image from being deleted. I have fixed the infobox for you, the template you were looking to add was Template:Character, then fill the fields out from there! Haha its okay but its no trouble --Lewisr (talk) 17:51, July 19, 2020 (UTC)

Image attribution

Hi there. Regarding File:GekkoBountyHunter4.jpg, as far as I'm aware that image came from a social media post rather than from Chapter 3, which is where you currently have it sourced to. If this is the case, please correct that on the file page. Additionally, if it is an image only used in unofficial posts, it cannot be placed in the infobox or in-universe portion of the article. Thanks. Zed42 (talk) 20:40, July 19, 2020 (UTC)

Hello User:Zed42! It did come from a social media post from Brian Sipe, the make up artist for The Mandalorian. Is there a particular way or format when sourcing the image that I should use for Instagram? I'm still new to this and trying to learn all the rules. Thanks for your help! --ChancellorFaust () 23:04, July 19, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

User:Lewisr Should be good now! Can you confirm that it's ok? Thanks again. Baby-steps as I learn this stuff!

User:Lewisr Ok, I archived it. Where in the image should I add it? The link is https://archive.is/Jj8bO--ChancellorFaust () 00:07, July 20, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

Wait, I may have found it.--ChancellorFaust () 00:10, July 20, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

  • I think you might have archived the wrong thing, I meant the Instagram post sorry! I have archived it for you now, so all you need to do is go to the image, and in the Instagramk Cite template you've added onto the image, just add |archive=https://archive.is/pChja onto the end so it looks like this {{InstagramCite|author=Brian Sipe|dateposted=2020-06-29|description=The Bounty Hunter Gekko|url=p/CCAaT2fgnI4/|archiveurl=https://archive.is/pChja}} --Lewisr (talk) 00:19, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

Hey User:Lewisr. I copied that link and pasted it in there, but I'm getting This Page Isn't Working message. I'm curious as to if something is out of place? --ChancellorFaust () 00:34, July 20, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

Wait!! I think I figured it out !! --ChancellorFaust () 00:43, July 20, 2020 (UTC)ChancellorFaust

  • Looks like there was some weird glitch where I had to alter something slightly, but all is good now! --Lewisr (talk) 00:49, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia sourcing

As Wikipedia info is derived from it's own sources, you need to source to those sources instead of the actual Wikipedia page, which could have been written biased etc. Cheers. Braha'tok enthusiast 22:47, July 26, 2020 (UTC)

  • Right I've completely misread that, what you need to do it use [[Wikipedia|]] when linking to Wikipedia pages instead of using the full url. Braha'tok enthusiast 22:51, July 26, 2020 (UTC)
