Unidentified Tusken Raider tribe

A tribe of Tusken Raiders was active on the Dune Sea of Tatooine following the rescue of Han Solo by his companions from Tatooine Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure. The tribe was led by a chieftain and used black clothing and garments. Among its members were a female warrior, a male youngling, and eventually Boba Fett.

During Han Solo's rescue, bounty hunter Boba Fett was swallowed by the Sarlacc. Following Fett's escape from the Sarlacc pit, he was taken prisoner by the Tusken tribe. During his captivity, Fett gradually earned the tribe's respect, eventually helping the Tuskens stave off murderous raids by the Pyke Syndicate and training the tribe to use speeder bikes and other technology from off-world. Following a successful raid on a repulsortrain of the Pykes, the Tusken tribe sent Fett on a spiritual journey to retrieve a sacred branch from a wortwood tree as a rite of passage to join the tribe. Following his vision quest, Fett constructed a gaffi stick from the branch and was granted full status as a member of the tribe. The tribe was later massacred by the Pyke Syndicate while Fett was dealing with them, as Fett demanded the Pykes to pay protection to the tribe for running spice through the Dune Sea. The syndicate left evidence that a Nikto gang known as the Kintan Striders killed the tribe. When Fett returned to their camp, he gathered the bodies and weapons of the dead, and burnt them at a funeral pyre.

History

In 4 ABY, the Rebel Alliance sent agents led by Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Lando Calrissian to infiltrate the palace of the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure on the planet Tatooine. The rebels sought to rescue their compatriot Han Solo, who had been taken as bounty by Jabba and frozen in carbonite. After the rebels thawed Solo and nearly escaped, Jabba's guards took them prisoner and prepared to execute them by feeding them to the Sarlacc at the Great Pit of Carkoon. However, Skywalker had prepared for such a contingency, and had sneaked his lightsaber into a compartment in his astromech droid R2-D2, whom he offered as tribute to Jabba. Skywalker, Calrissian, Organa, and their droids rescued Han Solo. In the process, Jabba was killed by Organa and bounty hunter Boba Fett fell into the Sarlacc pit. The Sarlacc ate Fett alive in his beskar armor.

Some time afterward, Fett escaped the Sarlacc's gullet, employing his flamethrower to reach the surface. Fett was discovered by a group of Jawa scavengers who stole his armor and left him for dead on the sands of Tatooine. There, Fett was discovered by the Tusken tribe and taken as their prisoner. When Fett attempted to escape, he was defeated by a female warrior. Later, a youngling and a massiff led Fett and a Rodian prisoner with chains to dig for black melons. They were attacked by a sand beast. Fett strangled the creature with his chains, killing it, which earned the respect of the tribe's chieftain, who handed Fett a black melon to drink.

Fett was accepted by the tribe and taught in their ways, including how to fight with a gaderffii stick, as he also taught them how to use technology such as speeder bikes to fight back against invaders from the Pyke Syndicate. Eventually, after leading the tribe into a victory against an interloping Pyke Syndicate repulsortrain that had attacked the tribe on multiple occasions, Fett was inducted into the tribe. The Tuskens used a gekko that crawled inside Fett's body, giving him a vision and making him walk in the desert, until he came across a Wortwood tree, from which he broke a branch to forge his own gaderffii stick in a Gaderffii stick workshop. After his induction, the tribe danced around a campfire.

Sometime later, Fett traveled to Mos Eisley to negotiate with the Pykes. When he returned, he found that the tribe was massacred, and a tent had the symbol of the Kintan Striders, a Nikto gang, painted on it. He gathered the bodies and weapons of the dead, and set a funeral pyre. Fett later attacked the Kintan Striders, killing several of their members, in revenge. Later, a Pyke boss revealed to the bounty hunter Cad Bane that the Pyke syndicate had killed the tribe, and put the blame on the Kintan Striders. Bane later revealed it to Fett. Master Assassin Fennec Shand later assassinated the Pyke boss.
