Turbo-boosters were a type of propulsion device that provided a boost of speed and a burst of flame. The swoop racer Kuru used a swoop equipped with a turbo-booster. Shortly after the Battle of Yavin that occurred in 0 ABY, Kuru used the turbo-booster during a swoop race on the planet Rion allowing him to maintain his lead over his opponent Han Solo. Solo complained about Kuru's use of the device but ultimately won the race.
