Tuntis

Tuntis was a male individual that lived in Peka village on the world Batuu. He was friends with Kaxx, another resident of Peka. By around 379 BBY, Tuntis had grown old. Around that year, Peka was experiencing nightly raids by a salmaca, an enormous lizard-like creature that stole valuables from the resident's homes. When the salmaca raided Tuntis's home, he attempted to fight it off, but his home was destroyed and he bled to death after the salmaca tore his arm off with its beak.

When Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani arrived in Peka during her Jedi Trials, Jerlyn, another villager, told her how Tuntis had died while explaining the village's problem with the salmaca. Shortly after, Kaxx, who wanted to take revenge on the salmaca, went to its cave with three other villagers to kill it. They were stopped by Nitani, who had sensed the salmaca's peacefulness through the Force, and realized that the salmaca had only killed Tuntis because he had provoked it.

Tuntis was mentioned in the short story "Shield of the Jedi," written by George Mann and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.
