Transport Three

Transport Three was a class four container transport in service to the Galactic Empire between 19 BBY and 18 BBY.

Characteristics

Transport Three was a Class four container transport, a model of heavy bulk freighter utilized by the Galactic Empire to carry large amounts of cargo, being able to carry up to 210 large containers in a compartment on its rear. It was equipped with six escape pods on the bow near the bridge to allow the crew to quickly evacuate the ship; these could be remotely jettisoned from the bridge in case of a hostile boarding action to trap hijackers on board. It was piloted by two pilots seated in a tandem cockpit station and carried a clone trooper security team to protect its cargo. Each of its containers featured re-entry thrusters which could be fired within planetary atmospheres to allow them to slow their descent was the crew to be forced to detach them. A number of engineering stations scattered around the ship provided access to its schematics and data about its operation and flight path.

Role

Transport Three was used during the Empire's post-Clone Wars cleanup operation on Serenno to extract part of the late Count Dooku's war chest off-world.

History

Between 19 BBY and 18 BBY, Transport Three was one of three class four container transports stationed on the planet Serenno, where it was meant to carry large portions of the deceased Separatist leader Count Dooku's war chest from his ruined palace off-world. As Transport Three was docked in the palace's shipyard, the renegade clone squad Clone Force 99 attempted to steal a small amount of its cache by boarding one of its cargo containers, prompting the clone captain on-site, Wilco, to order Transport Three to make an emergency take-off.

Upon being informed that some of Clone Force 99's members were still on the ship, Wilco ordered its pilots to jettison the transport's escape pods to trap them on board. As a result, the stowaway clones instead detached Transport Three's cargo containers while hiding inside one, descending to Serenno's surface slowly using the container's re-entry thrusters. The incident resulted in 15% of Transport Three's cache becoming unaccounted for.
