The Mandalorian Season Two

The Mandalorian Season Two is the second season of the American web television series The Mandalorian. It premiered on Disney+ on October 30, 2020.

Development

In July 2019, showrunner Jon Favreau stated that he had started writing the show's second season, and pre-production was underway. As he told Entertainment Weekly, his writing influenced by Game of Thrones format of telling multiple storylines at the same time.

Favreau also returned as a director, alongside cast member Carl Weathers and season one directors Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as newcomers Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez, new directors to the show. With less startup costs than the first season, more of the budget was used for the show itself. George Lucas again visited the set, and gave Filoni tips on directing. The season finished filming a few days before the March 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. The post-production team had to adapt to the quarantine, with their biggest trouble being the recording of the musical score.

Release

On September 8, 2020, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first promotional images from the season. The first trailer was released on September 15, followed by a special "sneak peak" during halftime of Monday Night Football on October 19.
