Temple on Ontotho

A temple of Zeffonian origins was located in the Fylar Forest, on the forested planet Ontotho. The temple closely resembled the Tomb of Miktrull, with the utilization of curved shapes and arches. It became the center of a dispute between the Daa Corporation under the backing of the Ontothon government and the independent Fylari. The incident led to Jedi Master Eno Cordova and Padawan Cere Junda being sent to this planet. Negotiations soured however, culminating in the Battle for Ontotho close to the temple. A Galactic Republic turbolaser blast destroyed the temple, with only its underground levels mostly intact by 14 BBY. In 14 BBY, the Inquisitor Second Sister and a squad of Imperial Purge Troopers discovered the ruins of the temple where they found a log by Cordova that mentioned the location of the Outer Rim grassy planet Bogano leading to the Second mission to Bogano.

A temple of Zeffonian origin was located in the Fylar Forest, atop a mountain in the Fylar region on the forested planet Ontotho. The exterior of the temple closely resembled the exterior of the Tomb of Miktrull, the resting place of Force-sensitive Zeffo Sage Miktrull located on the Outer Rim Territories planet Zeffo and utilized decorated curved shapes and arches to form it. To access the temple, there was a staircase leading to the temple. A statue of a Zeffonian, an ancient technologically-advanced species, was also near the temple. Two arches were located towards the left and right of the temple. The temple featured ancient booby traps upon entry into the temple. Like other Zeffonian sites it contained Zeffonian technology such as energy spheres, that could power various Zeffonian technology. Many of them were taken by the Fylari before the Jedi arrived on Ontotho with many other energy spheres destroyed during the Battle for Ontotho. By the Imperial Era, though much of the temple was destroyed, its underground levels were still mostly intact which contained well-preserved Zeffonian carved-out images with glyphs lining the walls. Many of the Zeffonian Tomb Guardians were inactive by 14 BBY.

Early history and Conflict

At some point long before the year 41 BBY, the Zeffonians, an ancient technologically-advanced species, explored many planets such as the Mid Rim Territories forested planet Kashyyyk and the Outer Rim Territories grassy planet Bogano. During that time, the Zeffonians came across the forested planet Ontotho where they built a temple in the Fylar Forest in an area that would later be known as the Fylar region by 41 BBY. After the Zeffonians left the planet Ontotho, the Fylari, inhabitants native to the Fylar region, encountered the temple and protected it from any hostilities.

By 41 BBY, the local governments on Ontotho formed a united planetary government called the Ontothon government and requested to join the Galactic Republic. The Fylar region however, claimed independence from this government causing issues with Daa Corporation as the corporation wanted to explore the temple located in the Fylar Region. The conflict escalated into supposed guerrilla warfare where the Fylari in preparation for a Daa invasion stripped the temple of much of its technology such as the Zeffonian Energy spheres, energy spheres that could power Zeffonian technology. The Fylari then converted them into weapons without the knowledge of the Ontothon government, Daa Corporation and the Republic–including the Jedi Order. The supposed conflict over the temple attracted the Republic and Jedi Council. The Jedi Council sent two Jedi, Jedi Master Eno Cordova and Padawan Cere Junda, to the planet to resolve the conflict.

The appearance of the Jedi

When the Junda and Cordova came to Ontotho, they traveled to the temple with a Daa Corporation armored convoy where they were ambushed leading to Junda being captured by the Fylari. After a brief exchange of fire, the Fylari leader Neralli explained to Junda that these attacks were not conducted by the Fylari but by Daa's own security forces forces to gain access to the temple.

Neralli then showed Junda the temple and how important it was to the Fylari. The revelation led to an escalation of the conflict between the Daa Corporation and the Fylari. However, Cordova managed to temporarily solve the issue with a truce to gain access to the temple. During the Jedi exploration of the temple, Daa Security forces tried to attack the Jedi but failed and instead led to the activation of one of the Zeffonian Tomb Guardians. While at the same time, the Daa Corporation attacked the Fylari resulting in the Battle for Ontotho.

During the battle, Junda escaped the temple and fought for the Fylari while Cordova stayed in the temple. While studying the temple, Cordova was betrayed by Neralli. The battle however was temporarily halted with Daa Corporation ceasing fire. The Fylari however refused to cease fire and attacked Daa Corporation Security forces with Chairman Dylanto Daa being killed using Zeffonian technology converted Fylari weapons. While the battle continued, the Galactic Republic came to help and a Jedi task force alongside Junda was sent to retrieve Cordova in the temple with the rest of the Republic Forces coming under attack from the Fylari.

The Fylari managed to capture the Jedi task force who were then attacked by two Zeffonian Tomb Guardians. The task force prevailed and escaped the temple. But during their escape, a Republic Consular-class cruiser fired on the temple which ignited the remaining Zeffo energy spheres inside. Although the Jedi task force escaped with one casualty, Jedi Master Odu, and saved Neralli from certain death, the same could not be said for the temple. The ignition of the Zeffonian energy spheres inside the temple set off a chain reaction that destroyed most of the temple and destabilized much of the Fylar region.

At some point before 14 BBY, the Galactic Empire invaded Ontotho and later participated in the pacification of the planet. By 14 BBY however, the Empire was unable to quell the resistance in the Fylar region. In the same year, the Inquisitor Second Sister and a squad of Imperial Purge Troopers arrived and killed the supposed Jedi, Neralli. They then entered the remaining underground levels spared from the destruction in the previous battle that led to much of the temple being destroyed. There they found En-Threelo and a log made by Cordova that included the location of the grassy planet Bogano, resulting in the events of the Second mission to Bogano.

The Temple on Ontotho first appeared in the second issue of the Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order - Dark Temple comic miniseries written by Matthew Rosenberg in collaboration with penciller Paolo Villanelli and published by Marvel Comics as a prequel to the single-player video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order developed by Respawn Entertainment, which released on November 15, 2019. The comic itself was released on September 25, 2019, as part of the Star Wars Jedi multimedia series. The temple only appeared in the comic miniseries and closely resembles the Tomb of Miktrull, the resting place of Force-sensitive Zeffo Sage Miktrull, that first appeared in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The main difference between the tomb and the temple was that a statue of Miktrull was embedded into the entrance of the tomb instead.
