Task Force Nova

Background

In 3636 BBY, the Eternal Empire under the direction of the former Sith Emperor Vitiate, now Valkorion, led a series of raids into territories held by both the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Following Valkorion's assassination, his son Arcann led a brutal conquest across the known galaxy, severely fragmenting both factions while increasing the strength of his empire.

As a result of the Eternal Empire's sudden emergence from Wild Space, both the Jedi Order and the Sith attempted to strike back at Arcann's forces, but sustained heavy losses in the process. Members of the Jedi scattered with some silently striking back or gathering strength (such as on Ossus) and others, such as Grand Master Satele Shan, going into exile.

The initiative

The joint initiative was designed to rebuild the Jedi Order, which was heavily fragmented during the conflict with the Eternal Empire of Zakuul in the previous years. This venture was specifically tasked with locating and gathering the remaining Jedi due to the consensus that the Jedi were needed in order to take the fight to the Sith Empire in the newly waged third Galactic War. Jedi Master Gnost-Dural also conceived of the idea to re-establish the Jedi High Council, himself a surviving member.

Supreme Chancellor Galena Rans offered the Commander—leader of the Eternal Alliance—the opportunity to join the joint initiative, with a guarantee that the Eternal Alliance would join the Galactic Republic with Odessen as its member world and its own senator. Rans also informed the Commander that its members, irrespective of their original faction in previous conflicts, would be given clean records and citizenship. General Daeruun would be chosen as the liaison to the Eternal Alliance in the new collaboration so that both sides could freely exchange intelligence and military reinforcements whenever and wherever required.

Behind the scenes

In the expansion Star Wars: The Old Republic: Onslaught, Task Force Nova is established and gains its own codex entry. This new reform is jointly announced by Supreme Chancellor Galena Rans, General Ardinondu Dipolus Daeruun, and Gnost-Dural to players who are progressing through the Republic's storyline. Depending on the player's class and gameplay choices, they may be asked to join this new task force.

  • If the player is a , they will be restored as a member of the Jedi Order and named the official leader of the task force, reclaiming their position as the Battlemaster while also being appointed as a new member in the rebuilt Jedi High Council.
  • If the player is a , they will reclaim their title as the Master of Hidden Knowledge in addition to their seat on the Jedi High Council.
  • If the player is a , they will be reinstated into the Republic Special Forces Division, in control of the task force's military aspects, and will also be given the rank of Colonel, which they had originally been granted "posthumously" when they disappeared during the Zakuulan invasion.
  • If the player is a , they will be a "citizen privateer" with the effective rank of Commodore, in control of the task force's civilian logistics.

Alternatively, through the Empire's storyline, saboteur players can learn of Task Force Nova's existence through Jonas Balkar, who introduces the player to Master Sal-Deron.
