Tamara Ryvora's grandfather

The grandfather of the human mechanic Tamara Ryvora was a male individual who at one point worked in a factory of the Galactic Empire. Though he searched elsewhere for work, laboring in the factory proved to be the only way to feed his family. At some point, Ryvora was informed of her grandfather's Imperial employment and how it had assisted her family.

While aboard the supertanker fuel depot Colossus in 34 ABY, Ryvora felt comforted by the arrival of the Empire's successor state, the First Order, and its stormtrooper presence because they reminded the mechanic of her grandfather's past. She discussed the First Order's arrival on the Colossus with Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono and mechanic Jarek Yeager, both of whom felt that the loss of autonomy resulting from the outsiders' control was reminiscent to Imperial tyranny. Ryvora disagreed, informing the pair of her grandfather's former employment and surmising that not everyone working for the Empire had harbored evil intent.

Tamara Ryvora's grandfather was first mentioned in "The New Trooper," the sixteenth episode of the first season of the Star Wars Resistance animated television series, which premiered on November 4, 2018. Resistance executive producer Justin Ridge felt that having Ryvora discuss her grandfather's past on the show was important, as it explained why she did not view the Empire as inherently evil.
