Spiral (attack pattern)

The Spiral, as referred to by New Republic pilots, was a maneuver used by TIE fighter pilots of the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing during the Galactic Civil War. In 4 ABY, 204th pilots used the attack pattern when attacking the New Republic EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Hellion's Dare above the planet Jiruus. The Hound Squadron pilot Yeprexi was soon killed by the TIE pilots using the maneuver as well. In 5 ABY, pilots of the fighter wing also used the spiral during a battle at the Core Nine mining megafacility on the planet Troithe, killing the New Republic airspeeder pilot Prinspai in doing so.

The spiral first appeared in Alphabet Squadron, the initial novel in Alexander Freed's Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy which was published in 2019.
