Sigma-class shuttle

Characteristics

The Sigma-class was a shuttle of inferior speed and power to the Lambda-class T-4a shuttle fielded by the Galactic Empire.

The Mist Laden, a highly-modified Sigma-class shuttle, measured 21.6 meters in length, and was equipped with a Class 1 hyperdrive with Class 15 backup, a navigation computer, deflector shields, sensors, four months-worth of consumables, a laser cannon and heavy turbolaser cannon, and had a top atmospheric speed of 1,000 kilometers per hour. It was crewed by a pair each of pilots and gunners, though it could operate with a single crewmember, and could additionally carry eight passengers and 100 metric tons of cargo.

History

Produced by component and starship manufacturer Koensayr, the Sigma-class was once popular, but was outclassed and largely replaced by craft such as the Imperial Lambda-class shuttle years before 2 ABY.

One modified Sigma-class shuttle, the Mist Laden, was owned by an independent trader, and seized by the Gand findsman Lu'daal-ud when he captured its prior owner. Undergoing further alterations by Lu'daal-ud's associates, it proved a reliable vessel, and was among the craft employed by the criminal organization the Granse Confederacy, of which the Gand was a member.

Behind the scenes

The Sigma-class shuttle was first mentioned in Alliance Intelligence Reports, a 1995 supplement for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.
