The shielding technique was a Force power developed by a Jedi healer to combat the Dark Plague developed by Sith Lord Terrak Morrhage. The healer used the technique to sever the afflicted Jedi Masters from the influence of Morrhage one by one, although it ultimately cost the healer his life. The technique was later included in the archives of the Noetikon devices. During the Cold War, when the Dark Plague struck the Jedi Order once again, a Jedi Consular used the technique once again to combat the threat.
