Sarla was the name given to a barrel stored aboard the Randomizer, the flagship of the Riftwalkers pirate gang, by the criminal Wungo. Alongside his associates The Lobber and Ghor, Wungo had been put to work as a supposed member of the Riftwalkers by its leader, Zilastra, performing the menial task of moving crates back and forth across the hangar bay of the Randomizer under the supervision of the assassin droid IK-111. When Riftwalkers member Kylah Lohmata and Jedi Master Depa Billaba, the latter having infiltrated the gang under the name "Hotwire," arrived in the hangar, Billaba questioned how long the three had been moving the crates. Wungo, at the time carrying the barrel, replied that it had been long enough for him to begin naming the objects, introducing Sarla.
