A throne room was located in the Royal Palace of Alderaan in Alderaan's capital city of Aldera.
The throne room was a large chamber, with a capacity for at least two hundred, lit using candledroids and featuring vast colored stained-glass windows. There was also a dais where the golden thrones of the monarch and consort stood with a blue and gold carpet that traced a line through the room directly towards the dais. At the back of the throne room was a door that led outside, to a terrace with a magnificent view on the lake and the mountains.
The throne room also had its own antechamber, which could be accessed using a shortcut through the palace's old armory, that was separated from the throne room by a velvet curtain by the door.
On special occasions, such as the heir's Day of Demand, the Crown of Alderaan was displayed in the throne room with its own candledroid. In ancient times Alderaaian heirs used to fight their way into the throne room as part of their Day of Demand ceremony.
In 28 BBY, Queen Breha Organa greeted Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo and her entourage in the palace throne room while wearing the Crown of Alderaan and a dress that covered her pulmonodes. Amidala's handmaidens were dressed in blue and grey with their hoods down as a sign of respect to the monarch.
In 3 BBY, Princess Leia Organa's Day of Demand took place in the throne room where Leia carried the Rhindon Sword through the throne room and announced her challenges of the body, mind and heart.
A short while later, Leia returned from the planet Crait, having discovered that her parents, Queen Breha Organa and Viceroy Bail Organa, where involved in a growing rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Leia met her parents in the throne room who confirmed their connection to the rebellion but refused to give her anymore information believing that it was the best way to keep her safe if they were caught. Leia also confessed that she had thought her parents had forgotten about her so her parents comforted her, telling Leia that they were fighting the Empire for her and her future.
Several months later Princess Leia was officially invested as crown princess of Alderaan in the throne room with her father placing the Heir's Crown on her head.
