Leia Organa's Day of Demand

The Day of Demand for Leia Organa was a ceremony held on the sixteenth anniversary of her original Name Day, where she demanded her right to the throne of Alderaan.

The Day of Demand had been announced and Leia Organa had practiced for the Day of Demand and her speech for the ceremony months beforehand and prior to the Day of Demand Queen Breha spoke to Leia in-depth about love and duty. She brought the Rhindon Sword with her and placed it on Leia's bed before telling Leia that she would attach the sword to Leia's waist the day that she married before going to meet her husband or wife. Breha also reassured Leia that when the time came she would get to choose her own spouse.

Delicious , which wafted through the palace halls, had been prepared for the banquet. The weather for the day had low dark clouds hanging heavily over the city of Aldera which later at night became a thunderstorm. The Crown of Alderaan had also been brought to the palace from the museum where it was usually kept, for the ceremony. Before the ceremony Leia's attendant droid WA-2V helped get her ready, compromising, with a simple white dress for Leia, which included a cape, and bold silver jewellery for TooVee. TooVee also did Leia's hair in the complicated tradition style and paired it with a silver headband, that fit neatly into Leia's braids, with a pearl charm that hung in the centre of Leia's forehead.

During the ceremony where Organa claimed her right to the throne of Alderaan she did so by naming three challenges, one of each the body, heart and mind, while holding the Rhindon Sword, to her parents Queen Breha Organa, who was dressed in bronze silk with braids woven through with strings of beads, and Viceroy Bail Organa, who wore the traditional long jacket of the viceroy.

Though Leia was tempted to make something up on the spot, such as saying she was going to learn how to juggle and become a feather-fire dancer, she followed through with the speech she had been practicing for months as it came out almost automatically. For her Challenge of the Body, Leia would climb to the summit of the Alderaaian mountain Appenza Peak, for her Challenge of the Mind, she would represent Alderaan in the Apprentice Legislature and for her Challenge of the Heart she would undertake mercy missions to planets in need paying the costs from her share of the royal purse.

Several of Bail's allies from the Imperial Senate were in attendance including Mon Mothma of Chandrila and Cinderon Malpe of Derella. At first when the ceremony was over Bail and Breha beamed proudly before the crowd began to approach and they turned to greet them rather than congratulate their daughter, with Bail engaging in conversation with Mon Mothma and her fellow Chandrilan senator Winmey Lenz and Breha taking the hands of Senator Tynnra Pamlo, thanking her for her presence. While Leia was greeted by Lord Mellowyn, a distant relative of her father's, she took this as proof that her parents no longer cared for her as they had been pulling away from her for the past six months.

With the completion of her Day of Demand Leia was allowed to drink the true Alderaanian wine Toniray instead of the diluted version she had been drinking previously.

In 4 ABY, after Alderaan's destruction, Leia became engaged to Corellian Han Solo. When she announced the engagement to Mon Mothma Mothma mentioned that she wished Leia's parents could have been there causing Leia to remember the conversation with her mother prior to her Day of Demand.
