History

Radiant VII shortly before its destruction.

Radiant VII shortly before its destruction.

The planet Naboo was part of the Galactic Republic, but it was located near the Outer Rim Territories, where Republic influence was minimal. Worlds without a strong military were especially vulnerable to attack and invasion. Since the Neimoidian homeland of Cato Neimoidia is also a member of the Republic, and the Neimoidians rarely got into trouble with the Republic, the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo surprised many Galactic Senate delegates. Dispatched by Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum to the blockaded planet Naboo, the Radiant VII brought two Jedi into the center of danger. When a Republic corvette brought Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi to a Trade Federation battleship in orbit around Naboo, the Jedi realised the threat of violent conflict if they fail to persuade the Neimoidians to retreat.
