The episode opens with an elderly Obi-Wan Kenobi standing on a cliff outside his home on Tatooine. The narrator explains that in a galaxy of adventures, Kenobi is a legendary Jedi Master. We hear a voice-over of Kenobi repeating his name and saying that is a name he has not heard in a long time.
Kenobi experiences flashbacks of fighting B1-Series battle droids aboard droid control ship Saak'ak during the Naboo Crisis. This is followed by an anguished Kenobi screaming in a despair as Darth Maul fatally wounds his Master Qui-Gon Jinn during the Battle of Naboo. Kenobi then engages Maul in a duel.
While watching day break on Tatooine, Kenobi experiences a flashback of fighting General Grievous on Utapau. Grievous advances with several lightsabers. As the twin suns of Tatooine rise over him, Kenobi reflects on leading Clone troopers into combat during the Clone Wars before duelling with his former Padawan Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar, then Kenobi opens his eyes.
Kenobi later watches R2-D2 playing back a hologram message from Princess Leia Organa appealing to him for help, telling him that she is her only hope. In the present, Kenobi ignites his lightsaber in the morning.
