Throughout the Jedi Mission to Ansion, Mousul conspired with Shu Mai, Presidente of the Commerce Guild, and others to secretly compel Ansion to secede from the Republic—to cause not only a chain reaction that would ultimately result in many other planets seceding from the Republic, but also to further the goals of the secessionist movement, also known as the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
