Marrok's lightsaber

Description

Marrok's lightsaber was a double-bladed spinning lightsaber capable of switching between single-bladed, otherwise known as crescent mode, and double-bladed, otherwise known as disc mode. The saber possessed a cylindrical hilt with an emitter ring that had two barbs on either side. Marrok's lightsaber housed two kyber crystals that emitted red blades. He carried the saber in crescent mode on his back when not in use.

History

In 19 BBY, Marrok, a member of the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius, carried the saber on his back, partially under his cloak, within Fortress Inquisitorius, the headquarters of the Inquisitors. Within the fortress, Marrok met the Sith Lord Darth Vader, master of the Inquisitorius. Sometime around 9 ABY, Marrok, now a mercenary working for Morgan Elsbeth, brought his saber with him as he accompanied fellow mercenary Baylan Skoll on the planet Arcana and searched the ruins of the Nightsisters' Temple.

Behind the scenes

Marrok's lightsaber first appeared in "Part One: Master and Apprentice," the first episode of the first season of the television series Ahsoka, which aired on August 22, 2023, on Disney+. The lightsaber was first previewed earlier in the year in Ahsokas first trailer, which was first shown during Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on April 7 during Celebration Europe in 2023. The trailer was then shown during the Celebration livestream and posted to the Star Wars YouTube channel. It was first identified as "Marrok's lightsaber" in a StarWars.com article detailing the Lucasfilm Pavilion at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, which was posted on July 21, 2023. The hilt was created by property master Josh Roth.
