M1-RE

M1-RE, also referred to as Miree, was a Safari droid manufactured by Serv-O-Droid, Inc. for the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts. She was a specialized member of the Society who was tasked with caring for and studying several young creatures and aliens. During Miree's interactions with younglings on the Youngling Care Space Station, she was recorded by the cam droid CAM-E who broadcasted footage across the Holonet and sent their findings back to the Society. Miree was friends with SF-R3, also known as Aree, who was also a Safari droid affiliated with the Society. Miree cared for several different species of younglings, including Wookiees, Ewoks, Ortolans, Hutts, Gungans, Jawas, Gamorreans, Rodians, loth-cats, rancors, tauntauns, and porgs. With an optimistic attitude, Miree tackled every new case to teach viewers about the characteristics that made each youngling special.

Working for the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts

At some point before 34 ABY, M1-RE, also known as Miree, was created by Serv-O-Droid, Inc. after the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts commissioned the creation of Safari droids. Miree was a specialized member of the Society. Miree became friends with the Safari droid SF-R3, also known as Aree, who was also a member of the Society. Miree was accompanied by the cam droid CAM-E who broadcasted Miree's missions across the Holonet and sent their findings to the Society. During or after 34 ABY, Miree was stationed on the Youngling Care Space Station, and Aree asked Miree to show viewers on the HoloNet how to take care of younglings.

Caring for a Wookiee youngling

Miree was tasked with caring for a Wookiee youngling who was stationed on the Station. The youngling was stacking objects which fell over, causing the Wookiee to cry. To deal with this, Miree had the Wookiee take soothing deep breaths, but they growled loudly, causing CAM-E to get projected towards a wall. Later, the Wookiee threw a tantrum after the ball they were bouncing hit their face. Miree and CAM-E then braided the Wookiee's hair, and this calmed the Wookiee down. The Wookiee then played a game in which it had to find CAM-E, though they failed and jumped up and down in anger. Miree calmed the Wookiee down by giving them a Wookiee Cookie. Miree congratulated the Wookiee for controlling their temper. They high-fived in celebration, and the Wookiee accidentally caused Miree's left arm to spin. Miree then told the Wookiee that they needed to learn to control their strength.

Caring for an Ewok youngling

Later, Miree was tasked with caring for an Ewok youngling during his first day on the Station. Miree explained to CAM-E that Ewoks could be very shy and added that the youngling should feel nice and welcome because he was in a room made to look like his homeworld of Endor. Miree attempted to introduce herself to the Ewok, but he quickly swung away on a vine. Miree then tried to use Wookiee cookies and several other treats to get the Ewok to come out and play, but the Ewok grabbed the treats when Miree wasn't looking. In another attempt to get the Ewok to play, Miree gathered a horn, three drums, and a hang-glider. The Ewok chose to stay high up in a tree instead of playing. This caused Miree to become frustrated that her usual methods weren't working. Miree then saw four younglings playing together, and she had them dance and play music. The Ewok then came down and joined the younglings in playing music while in a parade. Miree subsequently explained to CAM-E that Ewoks would always come out of their shell when there was a celebration, especially one with music. Miree then joined the younglings' parade.

Caring for three Jawa younglings

Later, Miree was watching three Jawa younglings, and one of them tore off CAM-E's photoreceptor. Miree took it back and reattached it to CAM-E. She then explained that she was watching three Jawas who loved to collect things. This reminded her that several objects had recently gone missing including the Ewok's spear, the rancor youngling's bone, and Miree's datapad. Miree asked one of the Jawas if they knew where the missing things were, but they refused. She then convinced the Jawa to play a game in which they would tell Miree if she was close or far away from the missing items. Miree looked under a Jawa, inside a cabinet, and inside the rancor's mouth, though she was unsuccessful. When Miree stood in front of a closet, the Jawa told her that she was close. When Miree opened the closet, she saw that there was a small replica of a sandcrawler that the Jawas made, and she congratulated one of the Jawas. Miree then explained that playing games with Jawas was a great way to regain stolen items. Miree told the Jawas that they should just ask for parts next time, and she suggested they could all build it together.

Caring for a Rodian youngling

Miree later cared for a Rodian youngling. He was looking for CAM-E who was hiding, but he managed to find her. Miree then applauded the Rodian for using his excellent hearing. They high-fived, but this caused Miree's left hand to get stuck to the suction cups on the Rodian's right hand. Miree tried pulling her hand away, bouncing with the Rodian, and spinning together, but nothing separated their hands. Miree got the idea that the Rodian would separate if he needed to use both of his hands, and she instructed CAM-E to get the ball she used to hide in. Miree then told the Rodian that he would need both of his hands to catch the ball when CAM-E threw it. When CAM-E did so, the Rodian separated from Miree and caught the ball. Miree then decided that they should stick to playing with their feet, and they kicked the ball to each other. Miree kicked the ball to CAM-E who avoided the ball. Miree and CAM-E both reached for the ball but ended up getting their hands stuck together again, and Miree said it was cute.

Caring for a Gamorrean youngling

Later, Miree cared for a Gamorrean youngling who was very grumpy, so Miree decided to try to cheer him up. Miree thought that he could be homesick, so she showed the Gamorrean a hologram of two adult Gamorreans on the Station's holotable. Miree asked if he would like to hear a story about his home, but she was interrupted by the Gamorrean biting on the base of the holotable. Miree then put him in a crib to get him to sleep, but he started biting the bars of the crib. Miree then attempted to play with a ball with the Gamorrean who instead chose to bite on the ball. While watching him do this, Miree realized that the Gamorrean was biting objects because he had a loose tusk. To help him remove the tusk, Miree had CAM-E give a piece of meat to the Gamorrean, and he removed his tusk by biting on it. Miree then congratulated him for having his first baby tusk removed.

Caring for a Huttlet

Miree cared for a young Huttlet, and she had a special bedtime routine that she performed for the Huttlet. Miree entertained the Huttlet by playing a game in which she covered her face with her hands. The Huttlet then yawned so Miree put her in a hovering pram used as a bed, though she didn't want to be put in the bed. Miree walked away and saw that the Huttlet was now in front of her. Miree realized that she forgot about the Huttlet's special bedtime routine, so Miree put her in a slime bath and tried to clean her. The Huttlet started splashing, causing Miree and CAM-E to get wet. Miree then put the Huttlet back in the hovering pram. She then gave her a Safari Droid toy and turned on the glow lamp, and this allowed the Huttlet to fall asleep. Miree then explained that bedtime routines were important for fussy Huttlets, and she ordered CAM-E clean up the slime in the room.

Characteristics

Miree was a feminine-programmed Safari droid who had an orange sensor and orange and white plating. With an optimistic and positive attitude, Miree tackled each case to teach viewers about the characteristics that made each youngling special and lovable. Miree liked to share her knowledge with wit, charm, and humor in a way that inspired curiosity and interaction. She was encouraging to younglings and enjoyed giving them hugs and playing games with them. Miree also liked to tell jokes. She made sure that she fulfilled the needs of younglings, and she was dedicated to following set routines. Miree could get discouraged if none of her usual tricks were successful while she cared for a youngling, though she could quickly get uplifted when she came up with a solution.

Miree was able to stretch her arms to a long distance and she could contort her body so that she could fit into small spaces. She was also able to emit light from her photoreceptor in order to illuminate dark areas.

Equipment

Miree was stationed on the Youngling Care Space Station, a large space station designed for caring for younglings from many different species. Miree had access to everything that was on the Station, including a repulsorcraft. Miree had a cargo compartment that could be used for storing equipment. Miree owned a holoprojector and a datapad.

Behind the scenes

Miree first appeared in "Wookiee" and "Ewok," the first and second episodes of the animated webseries Star Wars Galactic Pals, which were both released on StarWarsKids.com on April 12, 2022. Miree was voiced by actor Mo Beatty, and she was very excited to voice a droid in a Star Wars project.

Galactic Pals is a spinoff of the animated webseries Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures. Building off of the success of that series, , the creative executive in Animation Development & Production, and the production team saw an oppurtunity to showcase younglings. They decided that caring for young creatures and aliens would require a specialized member of the Society, leading to the creation of Miree and CAM-E.
