Lazerian (star)

Lazerian was a moderate-sized yellow star located in the Lazerian system, a part of the Expansion Region's Kira sector. It was orbited by eight planets, including the Lazerian system's center of population and commerce, Lazerian IV, as well as the Rokwahl Asteroid Belt. Other planets circling the star included the penal colony Acorvus and the mining colony Dborian. The Lazerian system was situated along the hyperlane known as the Harrin Trade Corridor, and due to it and the Ropagi system's star Ropagi's location at the endpoints of the Kira Run hyperspace route, the two suns were known as the "Twin Stars of Kira."

Description

Lazerian was a moderate-sized yellow class G star located in the Lazerian system. With the exception of the Kira system, the Lazerian and Ropagi systems were the sole star systems on the Kira Run hyperlane, and as such, Lazerian and Ropagi, which were located at the endpoints of that hyperspace route, were known as the "Twin Stars of Kira." Lazerian was located within the Kira sector, in the Trailing Sectors portion of the Expansion Region. Along with the rest of the Lazerian system, Lazerian lay along the trade route known as the Harrin Trade Corridor.

Lazerian was the star of the Lazerian system, which was an endpoint of the Kira Run.

Lazerian was the star of the Lazerian system, which was an endpoint of the Kira Run.

In order from the closest to farthest orbit, Lazerian was circled by eight planets: Alkur, Kelro, Acorvus, Lazerian IV, Dborian, Lazerian VI, Lazerian VII, and Lazerian IX. Resting in between the orbits of Lazerian VII and Lazerian IX was the Rokwahl Asteroid Belt, which was utilized for mining purposes. Lazerian IV and Dborian both had two moons while Lazerian VI and Lazerian VII had eight and ten moons, respectively. Several transponder buoys orbited Lazerian as well and were used to allow starship traffic to pass through Rokwahl unharmed. Lazerian IV was the center of the system's population and was home to a Human population known as the Lazerians as well as the native aquatic Akwin. Dborian was utilized as a mining colony, while Acorvus was a penal colony.

Behind the scenes

Lazerian was created by John Terra and introduced in Twin Stars of Kira, a 1993 supplement to West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Lazerian system, and therefore Lazerian itself, in grid square N-15.
