Luthen Rael's Droid Mod was an intelligent and capable artificial intelligence companion to the Rebel spymaster. It would function as a co-pilot and navigator to Rael, trusted to suggest optimal travel routes and perform planetary landings selected from a variety of predetermined patterns. The droid would also guard the ship against intruders, using its photoreceptor in the ship's cockpit to observe the behavior of unsupervised passengers and its audio sensor to listen for Rael's whistling which it would interpret as a sign to unlock the ship for him. It could also fluently communicate with Rael using an integrated vocabulator and make suggestions or raise concerns regarding the ship's safety and performance.
As it was connected with the entirety of the ship's systems, the Mod would also be used as a gunner and commander in combat situations. It would identify enemy ships through the radar and relay information regarding their model and capabilities to Rael, who would then suggest an optimal response based on the nature of the threat. The Mod could independently target enemy ships and then take control of the ship's laser cannon turret, laser beams, and projectile launcher countermeasures to destroy them while Rael focused on piloting the ship to safety. It could also find fake transponder codes and assign them to the ship within seconds to avoid detection from Imperial patrols.
Luthen Rael's Droid Mod assisted Rael in landing to Ferrix, where his master would meet Cassian Jeron Andor to recruit him in his spy network or buy a stolen Imperial N-S9 Starpath Unit from him. While landing, it advised Rael to land 2.3 kilometers away from the city, elaborating when questioned by an annoyed Luthen that it was the safest spot it could detect. Later, when Rael and Andor were escaping from pursuing Pre-Mor Enforcement corpos, Rael, in a hurry, whistled to the Mod and it recognized the signal, unlocking the ship for him and Andor to make a quick getaway.
After landing in Aldhani where Rael was to drop Andor off to Vel Sartha's team, Andor was left alone in the Fondor's cockpit and briefly considered stealing the ship, but was deterred when the Mod turned its photoreceptor unit to look at him and asked if there was something it could help him with. Later the same day the Mod was asked to take the controls and successfully performed a Landing Protocol 037 to land on Coruscant.
A month later, the Mod assisted Rael when he came under attack by Imperial forces above Segra Milo: it fetched and assigned Alderaan Trade Guild transponder ID 12912505 to the ship, charged its countermeasures, and prompted by Rael it used them to destroy a pursuing TIE Boarding Craft and a TIE/ln space superiority starfighter. At the same time, it performed the hyperspace calculations necessary for Rael's successful escape.
The droid had a photoreceptor unit comprised of two black and one blue photoreceptor, located in the cockpit of Rael's Fondor. It also had a vocabulator unit installed somewhere in the ship which allowed it to communicate with its passengers.
