The reactor of the phrikite Gromas Mines on Gromas 16 had a main reactor whose exchange coupling led to the central power grid. The Rebel Alliance, determined to slow down the Dark Trooper Project, sent agent Kyle Katarn to sabotage the installation; placing a sequencer charge on the coupling, alerted a Phase I dark trooper who was stationed under the reactor, but it was already too late, as the sabotage resulted to an immense explosion that destroyed all the facility.
The Arc Hammer contained at least three exchange couplings along its power grid. When the ship was infiltrated by Katarn, he rigged the three couplings with explosives in an attempt to destroy the starship to end its involvement with the Dark Trooper Project. The bid was successful, as the destruction of the couplings caused a chain reaction that tore apart the ship.
