Gromas 16

Gromas 16, nicknamed the Blood Moon, was the sixteenth moon of the gas-giant Gromas in the Gromas system of the Mid Rim's Perkell sector.

Description

The moon is one of the multicolored orbits around the primary star Gromas. This particular moon, thanks to its rust red soil, plus the light of the primary, it was nicknamed the "Blood Moon".

6,220 kilometers in diameter, the small arid, desert moon had weaker than standard gravity, a day length of 14 standard hours, and a year of 195 standard days.

History

Gromas 16 was an unremarkable moon until heavy deposits of phrikite discovered around 2 BBY caused prospectors to seek claims on the sector capital of Trancret. The exploration companies had a brief period of prosperity until an Imperial task force sealed off the Gromas system and ejected the prospectors.

After clearing the Gromas system, the Empire established the mine on Gromas 16 (as well as satellite facilities on other moons) to acquire large amounts of phrikite for use in their Dark Trooper Project. On that facility test refining was done, as did on Fest and (mostly) on Anteevy. Rebel agent Kyle Katarn, having discovered a sample on Fest, was led to infiltrate the facility, detonating the reactor to destroy it.

After Katarn's assault, the termination of the Project, and the death of Emperor Palpatine, the Empire abandoned the system, leaving the skeleton of the base behind, and empty facilities on the other moons. Shortly thereafter, prospectors returned to Gromas, and found the destroyed base on Gromas 16.
