Erkush were first mentioned in the Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities store at the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park land, which opened to guests at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2019. The Erkush originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were first mentioned in Crosscurrent, a book written by Paul S. Kemp released on January 26, 2010.
