Denta bean

Denta beans were a food edible by humans. They were used as a major ingredient in denta bean buns on the planet Naboo and in a beverage that was popular on the planet Coruscant.

In 232 BBY, the crew of the transport starship Vessel transported crates of denta beans to Coruscant. There were so many crates that the ship's navigator, Geode, had trouble navigating the ship's corridors. In 32 BBY, the kitchen staff of the Theed Royal Palace of Naboo utilized denta beans to bake a batch of denta bean buns. In 3 ABY, Torro Sbazzle, Executive Chef of the tibanna gas mining colony Cloud City, and her sous-chef, Gersolik, used denta beans to prepare a beverage that was to be served to the Imperial Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Denta beans were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2020 young-adult novel Queen's Peril by E. K. Johnston. According to Johnston, the first draft of the novel featured Captain Quarsh Panaka eating red bean buns instead of denta bean buns. However, the Lucasfilm Story Group asked if Johnston could make the meal "more Star Wars-y," leading her to use Wookieepedia, the free-to-edit, unofficial online Star Wars encyclopedia, to search for beans unique to the franchise.

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, denta beans were first mentioned in the "Galaxywide NewsNets" section of the third issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal, published in August 1994. The beans made their first full appearance in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a 2003 massively multiplayer online role-playing game by Sony Online Entertainment.
