David Doak

David Doak is a video game designer from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was part of the design team at Rare and took part to the development of GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark. He left in 1998 to found his own video game development company, Free Radical Design, where he acted as director. Under his leadership, the studio released several video games, including the TimeSplitters series.

In summer 2006, he struck a deal with LucasArts to develop Star Wars: Battlefront III at Free Radical Design. The development was still underway, with even a sequel in pre-production, when LucasArts saw major changes in its leadership, management, and strategies in early 2008. According to Free Radical direction, this led to Battlefront III being stalled by LucasArts for several months before being ultimately canceled. The situation was quite hard for Doak, who described it as "the most depressing and pointless thing" and the cause of a "nervous breakdown" that saw him leaving Free Radical around that time.
