During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the Imperial Intelligence communications hub Sector Plexus used a vast network of communications droids. PZ-4CO, a Serv-O-Droid, Inc. protocol droid who served the Resistance during their war with the First Order was a type of communications droid. The black, spherical, hovering droid Iris, who served the First Order Captain Cardinal was a communications droid. She was capable of controlling video cameras and internal sensors on board the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Absolution as well as giving basic medical information about nearby individuals.
