The communal nursery was a location on Nal Hutta where Hutt mothers could send their huttlets each day so they could better focus on their occupations. The communal nursery was staffed by surrogate Hutt pouch-mothers who would nurse the huttlets in their brood pouches. Around a year before the Battle of Yavin, Jabba Desilijic Tiure attempted to convince his aunt Jiliac Desilijic Tiron to place her huttlet in a communal nursery each day so she could better focus on her duties as the leader of the Desilijic kajidic.
