The Butcher of Brix was a fully animatronic character created for the 2017 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. Concept art of the character titled "King 11" was created by creature concept designer Ivan Manzella. In early drafts for the film, the character known as the Master Codebreaker revealed to the Resistance agents Finn and Rose Tico that he had been casing the Butcher of Brix for over a year and was planning to steal the blood jewels that financed the insectoid warlord's murderous regime.

Although the character's name did not appear in the final release of the film, its use in the early drafts was revealed in the reference book The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which was written by Phil Szostak and released alongside the film. It was then used to refer to the character in the non-canon Star Wars Sequel Skin Pack for the video game Minecraft, which was released on March 27, 2018. A card in the 2023 Topps Disney Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi set released by The Topps Company, Inc. in 2023 then canonically used the name, identifying a character that had appeared in the second episode of the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series, on May 27, 2022, as also being the Butcher.
