The daughter of the civilian Corwin Ballast and his wife, Lynnta, became immobilized in a street, and the rescue attempt made by her parents proved unsuccessful when the pair were wounded by blaster fire from Imperial and rebel forces sides prior to reaching their child.
The battle on Mordal ended without a decisive victor, with the combatants choosing to halt hostilities. Ballast, grieved upon learning Lynnta and his daughter had died in the firefight, decided to depart Mordal and travel to the Inner Rim planet Jakku, a place he felt war would not breach.
