In 231 BBY, a battle was fought on the planet Aris between the joint Jedi Order and Galactic Republic Unified Republic Task Force and the Nihil pirates. The battle was part of Operation Counterstrike—the Republic and Jedi's attempt to bring the Nihil to justice following their attack on the Republic Fair on the Outer Rim planet Valo. The engagement ended with a major victory for the Jedi and Republic. That same year, Jedi High Council member Stellan Gios informed the Jedi stationed aboard the space station Starlight Beacon of the task force's tackling of the Nihil at Aris—as well as victories on the celestial bodies Golrath and Port Haven—during a meeting.
