Bakura

Bakura was a planet in Wild Space considered an attractive destination for a day trip from the planet Batuu by the author Eloc Throno. Its capital city, Salis D'aar, was built in a circular pattern.

Description

Bakura was a planet located in the galaxy's Wild Space. It was connected to the planet Cermau and the Endor system by a hyperspace route and was close enough to Batuu, a planet in the Batuu system, that the author and adventurer Eloc Throno recommended it as a location for a day trip to visitors to Batuu, describing the distance as a "reasonable commute." It was the origin of a plant called a Bakuran fire philodendron.

History

Despite being near each other, Bakura mostly ignored Endor until the construction of the Sanctuary Pipeline hyperspace route.

Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, a battle in Bakuran space occurred between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire as part of the Galactic Civil War. Blue Squadron was instrumental in the Alliance victory.

At some point, the Resistance pilot Venisa Doza and her astromech droid Torch had an adventure on Bakura, which Doza brought up while attempting to plan her escape from the First Order Star Destroyer that had captured her starfighter.

Inhabitants

One of the inhabitants of Bakura was a tramp freighter captain called Dana Galvason, who used her YT-2000 light freighter Bakuran Blade to assist the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War.

Locations

Bakura's capital city, Salis D'aar, had a circular layout, which Throno considered easy to navigate for tourists. As of 34-35 ABY, Salis D'aar was far larger than Batuu's largest settlement, Black Spire Outpost, and boasted "all of the modern conveniences," according to Throno.

Behind the scenes

In George Lucas' rough draft script for Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, Grievous referred to Anakin Skywalker as "the young hero of Bakura."

In Star Wars Legends, Bakura first appeared in the 1993 novel The Truce at Bakura by Kathy Tyers.
