Hair

Different species, including humans, Weequays, and many others, have hair which is a collection of pigmented, thread-like strands that grow from the skin. Hair can also be referred to as fur, as seen in species such as Wookiees and Talz. It comes in a wide range of colors, thicknesses, and lengths. As people age, hair can lose its color, and in humans, gray hair is a common sign of aging. Stress can also cause hair to turn gray prematurely, which is seen in many members of the resistance.
Hair can be styled in a variety of ways for both practical and aesthetic reasons. For example, Sabine Wren, a human weapon expert, kept her hair short as it would often become sweaty under her Mandalorian helmet. However, she also added color to her hair using dyes such as the purple substance extracted from the carnivorous Morogian snap plant. There are also other ways to add color, such as using Mon Cal microplankton which would bond with each strand of hair, giving it a bioluminescent glow. Hairstyles can also be very intricate, as seen with the queens of Naboo. To keep hair in place, products like hair gel can be applied to tame any unruly hairs.
Hairstyles can be affected by current trends. Many women at the Resistance base on Ajan Kloss were inspired by Princess Leia's Alderaanian hairstyle and wrapped their hair around their head like a crown, although Rey believed that Leia did not realize that she had started a trend.
The Nightsisters of Dathomir had the power to curse a person by creating a waxen effigy of them. This effigy required a lock of the targeted individual's hair to be created.

Military organizations often have regulations concerning the hairstyles of their officers. For instance, in the Galactic Republic's military, short hair was mandatory. In the Galactic Empire, officers were encouraged to keep their hair short for practicality, but were permitted to keep it long, as long as it was tightly braided and pinned back.
Female porgs build their nests by using materials such as hair, fibers, or grass.
The armor worn by Range Troopers had large, white fur pads on the shoulders that helped keep the troopers warm on cold weather planets such as Vandor.
