Zyle Keem was created for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project. They were revealed in an article published on StarWars.com on January 23, 2024 by Alyssa Wong and Daniel José Older, authors of the junior novel The High Republic: Escape from Valo, where Zyle made their first appearance and was also first pictured. The novel was published on January 30 of the same year as part of the multimedia project's Phase III.
