Zorbia II

Description

Zorbia II, also known simply as Zorbia, was a terrestrial, temperate planet occupying the second orbital position of the Outer Moddell systems' Zorbia system in the Moddell sector, one of the subsectors making up the Inner Zuma Region within the Outer Rim Territories' Zuma sector. It lay on the hyperlane known as the Ovise Reach, which connected it to the Endor and Trindello systems, and it was on the edge of the Monsua Nebula.

The world had a Type I breathable atmosphere and high gravity, and its terrain included forests, plains, and deserts. Its local days were twenty-eight standard hours long, with local years lasting 360 days. The world had no major exports or imports.

Inhabitants

Zorbia was the homeworld of a group of Humans known as the Zorbian space pirates, thirty million of which lived on the planet and were governed by clans. Although the pirates' language appeared to have Corellian roots, it was unclear whether Zorbia II was a lost colony of the world Corellia or the descendants of castaways. The disorganized Zorbians had been bothersome in the Outer Moddell systems for centuries, even predating the Galactic Republic's survey of the Inner Zuma region.

The pirates of Zorbia were known to attack both each other and starships traveling from the moon Trindello to the planet of Ast Kikorie. Rarely, their raids stretched into Wild Space and the Inner Moddell systems. The Republic's first interaction with the Zorbians found them using old spaceboats and fighting with slugthrowers, an antique technology level that they would eventually outgrow; however, they suffered from continued disorganization. In 3 ABY, a group of Zorbians—led by Captain Krag—traveled to the nearby Forest Moon of Endor, attacking the native sentient Ewoks.

Locations

Zorbia II was home to two limited spaceports.

Behind the scenes

Zorbia II was first mentioned in the article "Endor and the Moddell Sector," which was authored by Craig Robert Carey, Daniel Wallace, and Jason Fry and published in the ninth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine on February 22, 2002. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the worlds of the Zorbia system, and therefore Zorbia II, in grid square H-16.
