In 2000 BBY, the water supply of Zirulast evaporated, leading the Temolaks to build orbital spacecraft for the purpose of extracting water from the icy rings surrounding the planet. Subsequently, the natives of Zirulast acquired hyperdrive technology, after which many members of the species became interstellar scavengers. Those who did rarely returned to Zirulast except to sell their scavenged goods.
Zirulast was created for Ultimate Alien Anthology, a 2003 Wizards of the Coast sourcebook for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Zirulast system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square P-11.
