Zavat was one of several forms of self-defense that Adea Rite, the personal assistant of Imperial Admiral Rae Sloane, was trained in. When she encountered the escaped prisoner Wedge Antilles in the Satrap's Palace in the city of Myrra on the planet Akiva during the Rebellion on Akiva, she used a combination of Zavat, Imperial Combat Exercises and Echani fighting techniques to try and overpower him. She successfully disarmed him, but was wounded by a blaster shot in the process, allowing him to escape from her.
