Yudrish Sedran was an esteemed senator from the Mid Rim planet Chalacta, home of the Chalactan people. He represented his homeworld in the Senate of the Galactic Republic. The Coruscant Security Force—a law enforcement agency on the planet Coruscant, where the Senate was based—opened an investigation into Sedran after claims were made that the senator was being bribed by the criminal Pyke Syndicate to turn a blind eye to the group's expansion beyond Pyke space. The accusations also claimed that Sedran had given limited diplomatic ambassadorial status to Pyke delegates that granted them access to the Senate.

The Coruscant Security Force sealed Sedran's apartments and offices during the investigation and thoroughly examined their contents for evidence, uncovering a portrait of Pyke capo Lom Pyke in one of Sedran's offices in 7941 C.R.C.. The senator claimed that the portrait had been gifted to him as part of a cultural exchange from the unincorporated Pyke homeworld, Oba Diah, but the security force seized it as evidence, and its forensics droids were able to identify grains of Kessel spice in the velvet pile of the canvas.

The "signature" from the spice then allowed sniffer droids and hound teams to track down contraband on the docks of Coruscant's Level 1313. Despite the evidence, Sedran had kept his books clean, and his elite legal team was ultimately able to clear the senator of any charges. Coruscant Security Force Inspector Tanivos Divo kept notes on the portrait and Sedran in his case files, some of which was published by Divo's grandson, Exantor Divo, in his book Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, which was released in 34 ABY.
