During the Imperial Era, Governor Wilhuff Tarkin was accompanied to the planet Scarif by a group of death troopers that served as his guard. The group arrived on Landing Pad 13 and met with the Sith Lord Darth Vader in the Scarif vault. Several guards were later present in Tarkin's personal office when the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca arrived to steal an urn sought after by Jabba the Hutt.
