Void striders were nimble reptavian creatures with long, spindly legs and tall, thin necks that dwelled on the planet Abafar. Standing at just over one meter tall, they roamed in herds across the Void in search of water, which they detected using their hypersensitive sonar system. After sensing a water source, herds of Void striders would sprint for sometimes days on end to reach it. Void striders had excellent capillary systems that allowed this behavior to be possible. They could hold in water for days on end, giving them time to locate more. A Void strider's hide acted as a solar panel, collecting energy to power them for their long runs.
During the Clone Wars, Colonel Meebur Gascon and WAC-47, after separating from the other members of D-Squad, jumped onto these creatures and rode them to the town of Pons Ora, where the other members of D-Squad had already arrived.
